Hurstland Farm

Hurstland Farm For 6 generations, Hurstland Farm has been "a good farm to know."

When everything seems to be overwhelmed by bottomlines and business, it's nice to find a farm where horses are still horses, and the owner handles and knows every horse. From the 1922 stakes winner CHEROKEE to the 2011 Darley Alcibiades (G1) stakes-placed winner HEART OF DESTINY, Hurstland has developed a solid reputation
for raising race horses. Included in the stakes winners between that firs

t one and the most recent are 1992 Canadian Juvenile Champion TRUTH OF IT ALL, Graded Stakes Winners GUN SALUTE, PHI BETA DOC (track record holder) and GIMMEAKISSEE, as well as stakes winner and graded-placed PLEASE SIGN IN and multiple stakes winning and Grade 2 stakes-placed KISS WITH A TWIST, and 2011 winner and Grade 1 stakes-placed MISS NETTA. Hurstland also offers consignments at the Kentucky sales and Saratoga, and we can assist you in buying or selling at auction, or in private transactions. We can also offer advice on matings for your mare, both from a pedigree and a conformation perspective, and in long-range business planning. While we value our heritage and will always employ the principals and practices that have led to our past successes, we are not content to rest on our laurels. We know tha trich tradition must be accompanied by modern methods, and our # 1 priority remains our commitment to breeding, raising, and selling sound and competitive racehorses. Give us a call or send us a message, and we'll show you why we say Hurstland is "a good farm to know."

With all the cold rain and sleet we have had this winter, it can be tough on young and mature horses. That’s why when it turns cold and rainy you will find everything from the youngest foals and yearlings all the way to the oldest retired gelding in a dry stall overnight. It is a practice that seems to be going away with a new breed of farms, but one we still stand firm on at Hurstland. We encourage all owners to make sure their horses are receiving the proper care, especially during years like we have had. A dry stall overnight when it is cold and raining greatly reduces stress on a horse.
