And just like that, with a flashy single buck kid from Memphis and Magic Mike, kidding season is over.
Three healthy kids and three healthy dams, I call that a successful kidding season!
Yes, I'm a little surprised that all three only had single kids, but I'm at peace with that. 🙂
Well done, Memphis, well done.

Not to be outdone, Edith got me up early this morning with a 4am wakeup call, and promptly delivered a beautiful Sundgau (my favorite color) doe kid!
Complete with "dingleflippers"!!

Welcome to the farm, little dude!
Edna ushered in the first kidding season here in 3 years. And right on schedule too!
This big fellow appears to be about half grown already, and he didn't come without putting up a fight. 😬
(A special thank you to the little sister I never had, for reminding me about having patience.)
Also, to the man upstairs, for hearing my prayers. 🙏🙏🙌🫶

I made new kidding pens! I'm going to give dam raising a try this year, so I made the pens bigger to give the does more room while they bond with their kids. Only 7 short days until the first kids are due!
Do I expect them to kid on time? No.
But will I be prepared!? Also no..

Typical pregnant Alpine moody behavior.
"I don't care if it IS 20 below zero, Edna, I'm not snuggling with you!"
It's been three long years since we have had kids born here on the farm. (I say we as if I weren't alone..) force of habit, 😞.
After picking up 2 doe kids last year and sending them back to visit Casey this fall to be bred, I returned home with a third! 😀
And I was remiss in not welcoming back home McCann-Farm JSP Memphis last fall, but she seems to have settled in as if she never left.
Anyway, kids are due to arrive in 3 short weeks! (Strategically planned for mid March kidding, and with these brutal temperatures, I would say it was a good call.)

Using our own goat milk, we make small batch hand-crafted soaps, lotions & caramels. All of our products are available at the farm & you will find us at area farmers markets in Milaca, Princeton, & Zimmerman.
