As part of Valley Queen’s Annual Founders’ Day celebration on March 1, employees were given the opportunity to support the local community in a meaningful way. In place of a traditional Founders’ Day gift, employees could choose to direct a charitable donation to one of three local organizations that play an important role in the Milbank area.

Thanks to the generosity of Valley Queen employees, donations of $5,000 each were recently presented to the Milbank Fire Department, Grant County 4‑H, and the Milbank School District.

This initiative reflects both the generosity of Valley Queen employees and the longstanding philanthropic values of the company’s founders. Each of the selected organizations makes a lasting impact through public safety, youth development, education, and leadership opportunities that benefit the broader community.

Valley Queen is proud to support these organizations and grateful to the employees whose generosity made these donations possible. Their willingness to give back demonstrates the strong connection between Valley Queen and the community it calls home.

The Heritage Center and Cheese Shop will be closed on Friday, May 1st, until 1:00 pm so our staff can support the Special Olympics Track Meet held here in Milbank.

We appreciate your understanding!

Today, we had the privilege of celebrating a huge milestone: Don Rieger’s 30th work anniversary!

For three decades, Don has shown up with steady commitment, deep knowledge, and a work ethic that makes a difference every single day. Over the years, he’s taken on many roles, starting in the packaging room, stepping into a packaging lead role, working in HCVs, supporting operations in the control room (whey and milk evaporators), spending time as a supervisor, and returning to milk evaporators before becoming a key part of HTST since the area began. We’re grateful for all he’s contributed, and for the many ways he’s helped those around him succeed.

Congratulations, Don, and thank you for 30 incredible years of dedication!

This morning, we celebrated Valley Queen Founders’ Day with our annual program, which recognizes employees, retirees, and charitable partners who played an important role in the past year.

This year, we honored:

- Innovative Idea winners: Jesse VanHout, Troy Peschong, Jon Gerhold, and Alysha Peters
- VQ Charitable Partner of the Year: Building Our Families
- Community Impact Award Winner: Karissa Karels
- New Wall of Honor Inductee: Lance Johnson

Following the event, this year’s honorees joined Valley Queen retirees for a meal in the community room.

Happy Founders’ Day!
