Great day in Milbank today, a local non-sanctioned contest. We were fortunate to finish first in brisket, won People’s Choice, and ended up overall grand champs. Beautiful weather brought out a nice crowd. Congrats to all teams that earned calls today.

Kicking it old school at Q Fest in Milbank, SD tomorrow. The contest that started it all for us…where Greg asked if I wanted to join him and cook a brisket in 2006 or 2007. I said “sure”, and then had to figure out what a brisket was. True story. C’mon out tomorrow and have some samples and vote for your favorite.

The Thomas guys dominate ribs in Huron! Friday night Steve wins the one-meat cookoff beating 19 other teams. Today Greg earned his first-ever 180 (perfect score) to win the ribs category in a field of 34 teams in the full KCBS contest.

Even though we’re not competing this summer, we still love to roll smoke. I have the Meadow Creek purring along loaded up with pork butts and will add some ribs later, for the tastiest graduation party in Aitken County. Happy Father’s Day friends.
