Memorial Day means a little more around our ranch. As the grandson of a World War II hero, I was raised to appreciate the sacrifice, courage, and freedom that men and women before us fought to protect. Today, we honor those heroes and remember that freedom is never free.

As we head into summer heat, don’t forget — not only does your grass need water. Make sure you and your family stay hydrated while working outdoors, and always keep plenty of fresh water available for your pets and livestock too.

From all of us at Anderson Ranch and Turfgrass, we hope you have a safe and meaningful Memorial Day weekend. God bless our veterans, our active military, and the families who sacrificed so much for this country.

We made our first grass donation and it went to our local Milburn Public School. They needed some premium Turfgrass for the baseball field, after they had it rebuilt. “Let Us Help Build A Beautiful Community”

Sometimes it is nice to climb on an open tractor—no radio, no phone—and just take a minute to reflect on the week.

And what a week it’s been.

We had a crew of three cutting sod, two semi trucks running around the clock, and wrapped up the job in Thackerville before heading straight into a new one in Comanche. We also bid another project in Madill that should start next week.

On top of that, we picked up seed, planted haygrazer to fill a hay contract, kept irrigation running, and stayed on top of mowing sod. Somewhere in the middle of it all, Cobey Alvarez and I decided to kick off our 2026 hay season.

And just to keep things interesting—we’re still having calves hit the ground every day.

We are blessed to live the country life.

Every year we have these ducks in the spring. They get closer and closer to the house. This was taken on the yard fence. So pretty. I love watching them. What are they and where do they originate?

Let’s get this party started. 124 semi loads going to Thackerville, OK.

We continue to grow our herd. So that means we keep some heifers for seed stock. Sometimes we have to pull calves. Whew. This was a lot!! Thank goodness my grandfather built birthing pens and Stacey Gibson Anderson was there to help.

If you stop in the pasture you might think you were at the old Arbuckle Wilderness. These girls have no boundaries.

We’re enjoying our traditional greens and black-eyed peas today. I’d like to do some laundry, but I’m hesitant to wash away any good luck—we’ll need all we can get this year. We have exciting and ambitious plans ahead for the ranch in 2026. Stacey Gibson Anderson & Cobey Alvarez, lets make this year the best yet.
