Tongue River Winery

Tongue River Winery Started in 2010, Tongue River Vineyard & Winery has 3 acres of grapes and other fruit for wine. The

We grow and produce top quality red and white, sweet and dry grape wines, and many unusual fruit wines and blended fruit wines. Additionally we purchase fruit from neighboring states with the same climatic conditions as we face. We produce more varieties of wine than any winery in Montana and now sell our products all along the eastern edge of Montana.

WINE IN A CAN?

Why are we doing this? Well —
Fishing trips— Light weight, drop in a cooler, simple and safe and legal to use on rivers!!
Hunting and hiking adventures— light weight, back packable!
Lunch breaks— It holds two nice sized glasses of wine, just the right amount for 2 people on a road trip for lunch, and NO half filled bottle left to deal with!

We're trialing PET plastic cans with wide-mouth pull-tabs just like on beer and pop cans. We're considering canning one each of semi-sweet and dry red and white grape wines, and one or two more fruit wines.

If locals wish to try, let us know. We very much welcome your ideas about which wines, what you think about the idea, any suggestions!

And thanks to Hannah for the very unplanned photo showcasing the product.

SEASONAL MATING VISITORS

Each year we have visiting guests stop in to produce young: Canadian geese, wild turkeys, bats who show up later, and sandhill cranes. A mating pair have returning to our property for several years, and I got some somewhat nice photos last Sunday morning. They are beautiful, striking birds, and I absolutely love to hear them call! Perhaps I can locate their nesting area and get some closer shots.

FIRST 2026 RHUBARB BATCH!

This past week we harvested our first batch of rhubarb from our 160 mature plants, and got 520 pounds of great rhubarb! Dustin and Bob pulled, topped and tailed the rhubarb in the field and then cut it up to 1" slices in the winery. It's now all frozen, and will be thawed on Monday to start its journey toward wine. We'll get a second picking a month from now!
