Sandwiches for Sloan!! Online Ordering Link https://order.toasttab.com/online/greenleaf ! The Viaud Family is hosting an Ansanm pop up this Tuesday for lunch! Aiden worked for Ansanm from the day we opened our doors to the day we closed and he and his mom Melina are part of this loving family and we’re doing what we can to support! We only bring out our beloved Fried Chicken Sandwich for special occasions and this is for sure one of them! This Tuesday only from 11am to 1pm we’re bringing back this fan favorite to help benefit Aiden Sloan aka “Baby Chef A-Dawg”! 100% of net sales including any amount of gratuity entered will be donated to his relief efforts! It has been so heartwarming to receive his progress updates over the past few days from Melina as he pushes through his physical therapy and regains movement in his arms and legs after his incident! His GoFund me page is still active and growing and any little bit helps aid his recovery! Be sure to get those pre orders in before the order window closes on Monday Evening! We hope to see you and feed you this coming Tuesday July 1st!

Happy New Year & Haitian Independence Day 🇭🇹🙌🏾! On this day we celebrate by eating our Soup Joumou! Read below for a little history on our beloved soup!
“Soup joumou”, known as Squash soup in english, consists of a base made of the kabocha squash, but acorn and butternut squashes can be used as well. It is loaded with vegetables such as cabbage, carrots, turnip, celery, potatoes, onion. Additional ingredients are beef stewing meat and pasta (vermicelli is preferred but if that’s too hard to find, rigatoni is used instead), along with a blend of spices. Traditionally
No matter where Haitians call “home” across the globe, on January 1st, in every household, whether made at home or purchased from a Haitian restaurant, you will find soup joumou being consumed. It is part of our culture.
This tradition dates back to January 1st 1804 when
Haitian slaves, led by revolutionary leader Jean-Jacques Dessalines fought, won and declared Haiti’s independence from French colonizers. Before that date, Haitian slaves were forced to prepare this delicacy for their masters but were forbidden from having any of this soup they had carefully prepared. So once they fought and won their independence from the French, they celebrated their newly found freedom by making this delicious soup and enjoying it themselves. Hence the name “Freedom Soup”!
Happy New Year and Happy Haitian Independence Day!
