No lie, someone just stopped at our stand and said , “I was about to say those eggplants are so cute, but I see now they aren’t real.” Excuse me, sir! We are not in the habit of bringing fake produce to our farmers market 😆 He was surprised and delighted, and it was as a good opportunity for conversation. He didn’t buy one of these cuties (a variety called Calliope), but he did buy a scone! That’s a win in my book.

Singing in the rain? More like Selling in the Rain! As long as we don’t hear thunder or see lightning, we’ll be here at the Elkhart Farmers Market until 1!

Listen, is the weather ideal? No. But are we feeling optimistic about the turnout today? …also no. But do we show up excited to share our garden goodies with you all anyway? Of course!

Purple potatoes! We mainly grew these for our kids to delight in, but we have been bringing a few with us to market each week. The taste is basically the same as regular potatoes, but with a very slight sweetness and a bit of a waxy texture that holds shape well during cooking. However, we like making purple mashed potatoes with these too, just for a whimsical addition to dinner.
I always tell my kids my favorite color is green…but between the purple potatoes, purple peppers, bright purple eggplants and purple beans we grow…I’m learning my favorite color just might be purple 💜

Calling all La Porte Families…Harvest Update!

Our produce is available for pickup from our farm in Mill Creek. Just send us a DM (prices available in captions).

With all of the news about the cyclospora outbreak, we’ve been getting lots of interest in farm pickups. We are working on getting a farm stand up at the roadside to make it even more convenient, but with two toddlers and our existing market responsibilities, it’s going more slowly than we’d hoped (like most projects on our farm). For now, just take a look at what we’ve got available and let us know if you’d like us to leave an order for you in the cooler for pickup.
