We're so excited to be participating in this year's Indie South Porchfest Market. This event is every great feature of fall wrapped up in one: live local music echoing throughout the crisp, tree-lined streets, bursts of rust and mandarin-colored leaves covering the sidewalks, fresh-baked artistinal treats and hand-crafted art.

We'll have one of our final crops of natural popsicles on hand, along with our delicious farm-made jams; racks of whimsical vintage clothes and my original framed and print photography.

Come on out to Normaltown Brewing Company LLC Sunday Oct. 18 from 1-7pm and enjoy this magical event.

On a trip to Santa Marta, Colombia we realized how important it is that food be obtained with appreciation and respect for the environment. We encourage you to read this next installment of the series on our Purpose at Buy From Friends for a more informed choice about food and products.

In garden news, we took a trip to the pine forest to procure pine needles for mulch. We want to protect the intentionally planted plants soil nutrients from the opportunistic nitrogen feeders. The last picture of the garlic bed shows the inevitable state of unmulched areas. If you look closely you'll notice chicory, dock, chickweed, dandelion, and henbit deadnettle - all of which are edible, but they're also nitrogen feeders so they're not helping that garlic.
