Eden Acres Farmstead

Eden Acres Farmstead Welcome to Eden Acres! We are a husband-and-wife team along with our dog, Rover. We raise miniature horses (ponies) as well as Fell Ponies. The adventure is real!

We also have standardbred racehorses. There is always something happening here on the farm! Please follow our page! We are a husband-and-wife team along with our dog Rover, our cats, and lots and lots of mini-horses. We are located in the beautiful rolling hills of Holmes County Ohio. We raise registered miniature horses (ponies), and purebred Fell Ponies. We also have some Standardbreds. We norma

lly have 10-20 mini-foals per year plus 1 or 2 Fell Pony foals. Each one is perfectly unique! You just never know what the next day will bring! Our mini-foals are sired by our 2 stallions we have here on our farm and we have a broodmare herd numbering around 25. We normally have a number of mini-foals & mini-mares available & occasionally a Fell Pony or Standardbred available as well. We currently have 2 Fell Pony mares plus a young filly & c**t. We currently do not have a Fell Pony stallion so we outsource that for our Fell Ponies. Our Standardbreds currently do not stay on our farm & are normally in training, racing, or turned out at a local farm.

No Pixie baby yet! She’s literally dripping milk on the ground, which is a first for me with a mini. Won’t eat. Still a knot in my stomach 🤢

I usually LOVE foaling season. My world literally revolves around it. And, up until this week, there has been nothing but love and smooth sailing. I’m not typically an anxious person, but I’m so nervous right now I can barely swallow. My chest is pounding.

Below is Pixie. She’s 338 days pregnant, VERY uncomfortable and completely waxed. This is her first foal. She literally doesn’t look pregnant because the foal is Lord willing in the birth canal in position already.

I can do this. Please tell me I can do this. They aren’t all going to be horrific and traumatic births, right?!? Talk me off this ledge❤️❤️❤️

There are two parts to last night. One was tragic, and our hearts are broken, and I feel like I’m being crushed.

Today, we’ll focus on the happy part. Dinky foaled a spectacular c**t, Ezra, in a textbook perfect delivery. They are both doing great. He’s already so friendly and comes right up to me for pets, and Dinky, aka the round little toadstool that refused to let him out, is being a stellar mama.

Today has been beyond rough. Don’t read this if you’re sensitive.

Delta Dawn was at 322 days gestation. Her foal alarm went off this afternoon, and I immediately knew something wasn’t right. There was nothing coming out her backside. It seemed like labor, but she was never pushing. She got herself cast 3 times, and I kept pulling her out from the walls.

I pulled apart her v***a to take another look, and I could see I was dealing with a red bag. It wasn’t out at all yet, but time was of the essence. I grabbed the surgical scissors, opened it up, gloved up and lubed up as fast as I could and got in there. No feet. No head. Nothing in the birth canal. Worst case scenario.

I managed to get the feet out, but the head was folded back in a way that’s impossible. I kept trying knowing the emergency vet was on his way.

I’ll spare you the gruesome details, but my vet was alone, so I was the assistant. What I had to help with today is not something I wanted to check off my bucket list. I’ve heard of it being done, and that was enough for me. It was only the second time my vet had to do this, but he said it went well. It didn’t feel well.

R.I.P. baby Eleanor, a beautiful little pinto filly.

Delta is not out of the woods yet, and we would covet your prayers, and maybe a couple for me if you could. This was not something most could easily handle. Everything is being done to help her.

You know it’s going to be a pretty good Sunday when you’re stuck at home watching the world’s roundest mare continue to refuse to release her hostage but your husband sends you this pic!

This was only stop #1 on the road trip. Wait until you see what else is coming home!🤩🤩🤩 Spoiler alert, one is on my bucket list of colors…there’s not another one like her in our herd!💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼
Any guesses?!?
