More than 1,500 pounds of ready-to-eat pork guanciale have been recalled after testing detected potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The products were imported from Italy and distributed by Prime Line Distributors and Ferrarini USA to locations across multiple states. Federal officials classified the action as a Class I recall, the USDA’s highest-risk category.

Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, particularly among older adults, pregnant people, newborns and people with weakened immune systems. Consumers with affected products are advised not to eat them and should discard them or return them to the place of purchase.
