Tomorrow morning, Sunday, Clancy’s Dream will head out on a 12-hour mission trip, leaving between 4:00 and 5:00 a.m on a six-hour one-way trip. We are going to help a small shelter that has become overwhelmed with an excess of dogs from a breeder. Much like the situation currently unfolding in Florida, this was also an AKC Border Collie breeder.
Sometimes things go wrong. The numbers get out of hand, the system becomes overwhelmed, and ultimately, the dogs are the ones who suffer.
We are scheduled to pick up 14-16 dogs, including adults and 12-week-old puppies.
Thankfully, the new transport van donated to Clancy’s Dream will make this trip much easier than previous rescue missions. It may not be cosmetically ready yet, but mechanically, it’s ready to go—and tomorrow, it will make its inaugural rescue run.
Fourteen dogs, possibly more. One long day. One new van. And fourteen more lives that deserve a chance.
Clancy’s Dream began with one dog who changed my life and left me with a dream bigger than his loss. Every dog we help is a continuation of that dream. Tomorrow, as this van carries these dogs toward a new beginning, a little piece of Clancy will be going with them.
That’s what makes this first rescue run and the van so meaningful. It isn’t just a new van hitting the road. It’s Clancy’s legacy moving forward—one dog, one mile, and one second chance at a time.
