Bob's near encyclopedic knowledge of the wines in the store combined with his down-to-earth approach will always leave you in a great mood. My bestie who retired to.Arizona, was invited to a fancy schmancy Italian restaurant in Scottsdale. He didn't know what the others were ordering but he wanted to make a splash with an unknown but fabulous w**e. The Kerner grape from the Abbazia Di Novacella in the Italian Alps was a winner with everyone. I was shocked to see it on a w**e list in Arizona. It's also one of my son's favorite whites. $24.99. Running low on the spectacular 2023 vintage.

About forty years ago I had lunch at a sidewalk cafe in the Piedmont section of Italy. It was unforgettable. Local, local, local.
Biova bread. Salame Piemonte, Barbera w**e in the salame. And two of my favorite cheeses. Castelmagno and Robiola. I drank the local Barbera. There are two regions in Piedmont that make great Barbera, Alba and Asti. I still can't make up my mind, so I bought one of each. $19.99 a bottle.

It's fantastic $29.99 and ridiculously elegant for Pinot Noir. Not Burgundy but closer than Oregon or California style. It's already on my short list for Thanksgiving turkey dinner. Had it with.duck. Brilliant

Don't hold the anchovies!
With tinned seafood becoming so popular, I'm a sardine guy myself, I accidentally found the perfect white w**e with oily fish. The Cataratto grape of Sicily is tremendously complex tasting that compliments anchovies et al. $19.99 a bottle , it doesn't taste like any other dry white you've ever had. Masked all the "fishy" flavor of last night's anchovy course. I'm still flabbergasted. I'm still learning. Trying it with smoked bluefish pate tomorrow

Aglianico is the best dry red grape of southern Italy. It ages and improves for years. There are two regions of Italy that standout, Basilicata. The arch of Italy, and Campania, Naples home. The bottles of each need to be opened two hours minimum before serving with Brisket.. Texas style, slow smoked with just salt and pepper or in a classic stew with potatoes onion carrots and celery. $19.99 each.

The new vintage of dry Riesling from Prum tastes like apples dipped in lemon. Still $17.99. Just came in. Gotta try with food. I'm guessing Asian take out
