I'm going to start this post with please like comment, share and follow us. The old socials are rough on our views lately and Nolan wanted to do a video as we finish up our day and I have a message, so watch and read on please. I've been told more times than I can count that were living the dream. I don't disagree, but it takes a special person to live this dream. I'm glad that God called me to do this everyday. I look back in my life and things fell as they were designed for us to start and be FPF 16 years ago. That being said there's things I don't like to do. This afternoon I had to set up nets for the layers to move to fresh pasture. It's a top 3 of things I don't like to do. I love to move layers to fresh pasture that's a favorite of mine but the setting up not so much. So when it's done and hoses are ready for the move, I'm so thankful that I have everything ready for the morning. The others are working in all day rains and working in the crazy cold where we can't keep waters thawed. We need rain so grass will grow but I just don't like being wet and having to work in it. The cold, we could move farther south but this is where we are so it is what it is. This is why I'm always excited for warm weather on either side of the seasons. When you're outside all day and can't feel your fingers or toes or it's so cold it's hard to breath without your nose freezing with ice it's no fun. I'm not sure how any farms, farm any farther north than us. Lol. That being said we all have things we don't like to do but they are all necessary to keep our farms, business or employers going. The average pasture based farm last about 5 years. One of the major reasons is the amount of work. This year i worked 240 days in a row before taking a full day off and actually I came back to the farm for 2 hours to do a little bit of work but I'll count that as a whole day off. There's no 2 days of every week, no 8 hours a day, it's sun up to sun down pretty much 365 days a year. The other reason is lack of sales. We need to as a community or at least a St. Louis area make sure every local farm and small business doesn't fail because of lack of sales. Yes we can't compete with the crap that Walmart sells. We aren't selling what they sell. We are raising and providing quality nutrient dense food. With the awareness of imported foods and fake meat that's being pushed on us, now is the time to support local. Now is the time, now is when we vote with our dollars! We want clean food raised in our local community's not shipped in or delivered. Picking up at the farm where it was raised from the farmer who raised it. Have a great Friday evening!
