Okay gardening friends. I literally can't decide.

Currently, we have just the black fabric down. My husband thinks I should leave it just exposed, says it will be easier to mitigate weeds and if we ever need to replace the fabric or do whatever.

I think woodchips look so nice, but they will be woodchips from fresh trees.

In your experience, are thick wood chips helpful? Pros and cons? I feel as, if we get it thick enough, it would help with the weeds better AND look nice? Tell me your thoughts because I am so contemplated right now. I can just sweep and it's good, but with mulch, idk!
