Many customers have been visiting the farm this week enjoying the lavender bloom and having fun cutting their own lavender bundles! At the same time our large scale commercial lavender harvest has been taking place at night. As shown here the early Angustifolia varieties are hand cut and bundled in the field then transported to racks in our drying building. These varieties are destined for culinary use and will be supplied to our large wholesale customers (bakeries, distilleries, tea companies, canneries, creameries, etc.). The bundles will sit on the racks for a number of weeks, large fans circulate air through the lavender to dry and preserve the buds, locking in color, aroma and flavor. Stay tuned....next we will show you the bud stripping process and the bud cleaning process. Then, in July, essential oil distillation! Oh, the farm and store are open all weekend....come see us today!

Lavender and the Renaissance enjoy a strong connection... and today we are happy to be back at one of our most favorite events of the year....the Dragon's Gate Brewery Renaissance Faire at their farm and brewery grounds in Milton Freewater! The Crockett Road Lavender Farm purple trailer of lavender magic will be in the market area of the Faire until 8PM tonight.
