Desperado Vineyard begins where the world ends.

Tucked into Oregon’s Imnaha Canyon — the most remote wine country in the PNW — Open Soul’s first estate vineyard is in the ground. 2,938 vines. 2 acres.

4 main varieties:
Grenache
Syrah
Chenin Blanc
Sauvignon Blanc
+8 experimental varieties

In three years these vines will bear wine-ready fruit. We invite you to continue following Desperado Vineyard on Facebook for more nitty gritty farming details (and maybe more pratfalls). Link in bio.

After months of planning, prepping, and dreaming, the first vines are officially in the ground.

This weekend marks the beginning of something we’ll be watching grow for years to come. Follow along as Desperado Vineyard takes root.

We’re beyond excited at the rapid progress being made at Desperado Vineyard!

After months of hard preparation, vines will be planted at the end of the month.

We hope you follow us as the PNW’s most remote vineyard takes root!

Special thanks to for allowing us to use their incredible song

When I first conceived the Open Soul brand, I imagined my wines as high enough quality to be enjoyed by royalty — enjoyed not at the formal table, but after a hunt at Balmoral Castle. Boots still dirty. Fire already lit. (I was watching The Crown at the time.)

So when I got the call that Open Soul had been chosen to be poured at Blair House — where the King and Queen of England called home during their historic state visit celebrating America's 250th year of independence — I had to hold onto something to steady myself. I never thought actual royalty would be served my wines.

And then I got the message from the chef: of all the wines featured that week… the delegation drank the most bottles of mine.

My first Rosé, the 2023 vintage, paired with tempura fried soft shell crab. At an indoor BBQ station the Blair House team pulled off beautifully despite pouring rain outside. (The 2023 Rosé is still holding up beautifully.)

I'm deeply grateful to the extraordinary staff and culinary team at Blair House. You took a chance on a brand new tiny Oregon winery, and you made something I'll never forget. And to Matthew Wendel — thank you for the introduction that started it all.

There’s a part of wine that I’ve always loved most. It’s what happens when people gather around it.

A good bottle, with a good story, can change the energy in a room and give people a chance to share something together. That’s where wine really comes alive!
