Part-time position available with our friends at Merrills on The Farm 🐑🐓

🌅 Morning Farm Help Wanted | Part-Time | Milton, NH

Merrills on The Farm is looking for a dependable part-time person to help with morning farm chores Monday through Friday, approximately 8:00–10:00 AM.

This is a hands-on position caring for a mixed group of livestock and poultry, so I’m looking for someone who is comfortable working independently, paying attention to animals, and getting dirty. 🐓🐑🐐🐇🦆🐖

Morning responsibilities may include:

* Feeding, watering, and providing hay for poultry, sheep, goats, pigs, rabbits, quail, and young animals
* Cleaning and refilling livestock waterers, poultry waterers, and duck pools
* Cleaning rabbit, poultry, brooder, goat, and nesting areas as needed
* Collecting and washing eggs
* Restocking feed, hay, and farm supplies
* Helping move and reset pasture equipment, including our chicken tractor
* Using an ATV to move water, feed, or supplies around the farm
* Watching animals closely and letting me know if anyone seems injured, sick, off-feed, or simply not quite right
* Occasionally helping with other farm tasks and projects

Not every task happens every morning. There is a regular animal-care routine, with cleaning and other chores worked in as needed.

What I’m looking for:

Reliable transportation is required.

I strongly prefer someone with previous animal or livestock experience, especially someone comfortable around larger animals and poultry.

Experience driving an ATV and/or tractor is also preferred.

You should be comfortable working outdoors in changing New Hampshire weather, lifting and carrying feed, hay, and water, following established routines carefully, and working around mud, manure, feathers, and all the other glamorous accessories of farm life. 😂

More than anything, I need someone reliable, observant, kind with animals, and conscientious about their care.

What you can learn here:

For the right person, this can be much more than a morning chore job.

There are opportunities to build a deeper understanding of animal husbandry, livestock behavior, pasture management, rotational grazing, food production, and regenerative farming practices.

You may also have the chance to learn more about:

* Raising poultry and livestock for food
* Caring for young animals
* Growing and producing more of your own food
* Managing animals on pasture
* Farm systems and daily operations
* Regenerative and restoration-focused agriculture
* Processing and direct-to-consumer farm sales

For someone who is genuinely interested in agriculture and wants to learn, there is room to grow with the farm. Additional responsibilities and expanded hours may become available over time for the right person.

Celebrate 250 years in Milton NH this Saturday at the NH Farm Museum!

From 10:30-12:30, learn about the natural history of local woods on a guided walk through Plummer’s Ridge with Forester Charlie Moreno. Then return to the event across the road for more learning, stories, games, and fun honoring the rich history of our neck of the woods.
