Just a day late… if you know me in real life, you know this tracks…

Anyway, on to the important part. We have officially tallied all the money, and yesterday we wrote a check to the Epilepsy Foundation for $715 in honor of Tanner and our Honey that Helps campaign.

I am truly honored and humbled by the support of this initiative! It’s been fun to document, educate, and share the journey, and this check is a pretty sweet cherry on top! 🍯

Thank you all! 💜

🐝 Photos from the bee yard today! 🍯

We’re slowly pulling the last of the honey for the season.

After pulling these frames today, they’ll head to the deep freezer for a bit. This is a part of our process that we don’t talk about often—and it may seem a little confusing. So, let’s get into it…

❄️ We choose to deep freeze our frames as a way to hit “pause” on the process.

Inside a beehive, there are other bugs besides bees—including small hive beetles. A strong colony has the ability to keep these pests in check, but once honey frames are removed from the protection of the colony, things can go sideways pretty quickly.

Freezing the frames kills any small hive beetles, larvae, or eggs that may be hiding in the comb and protects those beautiful frames of honey until we’re ready to extract them.

Once they’ve had their time in the freezer, we can harvest on our time. We give them about 24 hours to slowly thaw, and then they’re ready to go into the extractor and spin out that honey.

Because sometimes the honey needs to be pulled…but life keeps lifein’. 😅

So we hit nature’s pause button. ❄️🐝🍯
