Join us tonight, Thursday March 26, as we pour through a brand new lineup from Friuli, Italy’s wonderkids with our friends

Growing in the heart of Collio, Tanika & Daniele Lenuzza farm 8ha of land organically and produce some truly exciting wines. Friuli is the unsung hero of Italy, in our opinion. Come by tonight and find out why we love these wines so much.

Hope to see you Thursday at Thelma Carol Wine Merchants as we taste through this new line up from Vigna Lenuzza!

Just another reason why we love this wine from TILIA estate

Have you ever noticed the handwritten date on every bottle of our sparkling EL – Emperor of Love? ✍️
It’s there for a reason.

Our sparkling wine, crafted in the classic method, contains no added sulphur, principles followed. We bottle it successively — on demand — ensuring every release is as fresh as possible.
Each bottle rests for a minimum of 2️⃣4️⃣months on the lees, is freshly disgorged, and personally dated by hand.
Why?

Because when you master the process without added sulphur, precision matters.
Freshness matters.
Quality control matters.
That handwritten date is more than ink on the label — it is our promise.

A promise that what’s in your glass is exactly as it should be — and will remain in perfect condition for at least the next two years. 🍇✨

The new 2024 vintage of Kadarka is here and it’s a stunner. Bright cherry a vibrant acids we absolutely love this under-recognized grape.

There’s a raw energy to all the wines we’ve tasted from the Boka family and this Kadarka is no exception. They’re always dynamic, bright, and there’s a clear fingerprint of the family with each sip. We can’t wait to share these.

Can’t wait to share the wines of Hungary with everyone!

We’re so excited to share the wines of János Markvart—known simply as Jani to friends and family 🍷

Jani farms just 4 hectares in the rolling hills of Hungary’s famed Szekszárd region. Best known for reds, this area produces beautifully terroir-driven wines from Blaufränkisch, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, and the beloved local variety, Kadarka.

A third-generation winemaker with deep roots in Szekszárd, Jani likes to joke that his blood is 50% Kadarka—and after tasting with him, you might believe it. Several of his vineyards are planted with vines over 100 years old, and he’s one of the few growers still maintaining traditional bush vines in the region.

His pride and joy is the classic Bikavér (Bull’s Blood) blend: Blaufränkisch, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, and Kadarka. Jani’s goal is elegance and drinkability, and this bottling delivers—pure and expressive, with black cherry, forest spice, and a long, earthy, herbal finish. Bright acidity and fine tannins keep it complex yet irresistibly drink-now.

We also fell hard for Jani’s Syrah. Powerful and robust, it shows spicy dark fruit with a subtle smoky edge, balanced by vibrant fruit and a long, satisfying finish that keeps you coming back for another sip.

Jani and his family are incredible hosts, and we’re thrilled to partner with them in the U.S. to showcase his talent—and the soul of Szekszárd and Hungarian winemaking as a whole.

We’re excited to welcome Rokovi Wines to the portfolio 🍷

Rokovi is the project of the Sirk family, based in Slovenia’s Goriška Brda. These wines caught our attention earlier this year while tasting in Slovenia, and after spending time with Andrej Širk, we were fully sold.
The Širk family has farmed this estate for generations, but under Andrej’s direction the wines have found their way into more local restaurants and across the EU. Farming here goes beyond organic—Andrej calls it “integrated farming.” Every action in the vineyard is intentional, holistic, and designed to benefit the entire ecosystem. A true closed-loop system, where nothing goes to waste.

If you’ve never been to Goriška Brda, it’s a special place. Terraced vineyards rolling straight into Italy’s Collio, with cool nights, warm days, and an undeniable sense of calm.

From Rokovi, we’re thrilled to be working with:
Sauvignon Vert (Friulano)
All stainless steel, shaped by Brda’s clay and flysch soils. Soft yet mineral-driven, with notes of pistachio and peach and a plush, lingering finish. Easily one of the best Sauvignon Vert we’ve tasted.

Cabernet Sauvignon
A fresher, more lifted expression thanks to Brda’s cool nights. These vines sit just outside the cellar door and are tended meticulously by Andrej. Aged in well-used oak and bottled unfiltered, the wine shows ripe, juicy fruit with a finish that keeps unfolding.

We’re proud to represent Rokovi Wines in the United States. Available now in Wisconsin, with wholesale opportunities in other states.

We’re loving these red wines from ! Located in Hungary’s famed Szekszárd region, where the rolling hills give way to the Pannonian Basin, the soil is a dynamic blend of loess, clay, sand, & rock.

This is such a dynamic spot for bolder red wines. Janos and Adrienn are at the forefront of pushing this region into wider fame. Their Merlot, aptly named “Delirium” is just that. Rich, spicy, yet totally plush with flavor. It was an immediate favorite. And damnit, we’re drinking Merlot tonight! 😎

This microclimate also produces some absolutely stunning Cabernet Franc which we see in the couple’s “deVerto” bottling. Robust with ripe fruit and that beautiful touch of pyrazines or green pepper. Still soft on the finish but wow is the finish long.

Szekszárd has a lot going on and we love spreading the word! Check ‘em out, you won’t be disappointed.

We are deeply saddened to share that David Bratož of Rogovila has p@ssed away. To us, David was far more than a winemaker or business partner—he was a friend. To Lara he was a husband, and to Lana, Naja, and Jona, a beloved father. Our hearts are with them in this unimaginable loss.

We first met David by chance. We kept seeing his wines on social media and try as we might we could never track down who this elusive winemaker was. It got to the point where we finally just gave up. Then, a few weeks later, while traveling in Vipava Valley, asked us if we’d like to meet his friend for a beer who just happened to be a winemaker. Never ones to turn down a beer, we agreed. A few hours later we found ourselves in Orehovica, Slovenia in the Rogovila cellar. Life is funny sometimes.

David poured us wines from his friends and neighbors and even bottles he’d collected from trips overseas and finally, after a few hours, he sheepishly asked if we would like to try his wines. David was never shy to throw praise at his winemaking colleagues in Slovenia and around Europe. He had the ability to find brightness even on the darkest days, and this was a trait we loved in him.

There’s been many jokes made about the Rogovila cellar being known as the “black hole.” Once you enter you may never leave, and we can attest to this fact. But it’s not that you don’t ever leave, it’s that you don’t WANT to leave. We’ve spent more hours than we can count sitting at the table, dining on Lara’s deliciously prepared dinner and sipping wines and catching up. No visit with David and Lara was a quick affair, and we loved every minute of it.

If you’ve been fortunate enough to meet David you know what a generous and giving person he was, you know his laugh was the most contagious laugh around, and you know exactly what we mean when we say David was always a bright light of laughter, fun, and friendship. We will miss him dearly and are grateful to be among so many around the world who were lucky enough to call him a friend. Lara, Lana, Naja, and Jona — our thoughts are with you now and always.
