As we continue celebrating Women’s History Month, we’re highlighting some of the incredible women-owned businesses that help shape Milwaukee’s East Side. Today, we’re excited to spotlight Nadi Plates, an upcoming restaurant bringing modern Italian flavors and family tradition to the neighborhood.
This fall, Nadi Plates will open its first brick-and-mortar restaurant in the former Crossroads Collective space, expanding from a beloved family-run food truck and catering business into a full dining experience. The new spot will feature innovative Italian small plates, a European-style espresso bar, and a full bar with cocktails and wine, along with a strong focus on plant-based and gluten-free options.
Behind it all is owner and executive chef Nadia Santaniello Bucholtz, a first-generation Italian-American whose lifelong passion for food started in her family’s restaurant, opened by her parents after immigrating from Naples in the early 1960s. After spending 25 years helping build the family business and later working with major food and beverage companies across the Midwest, Nadia returned to her roots with Nadi Plates, blending time-honored Italian recipes with modern creativity and a deep love for gathering around the table.
The concept itself was born at Nadia’s own kitchen table, and that spirit of hospitality is at the heart of everything she creates. Nadi Plates is all about sharing great food, great wine, and great company, treating every guest like family.
Nadi Plates will also be joined by Il Grande Bambino, a new café and daytime concept from the same team. The espresso bar and mini Italian market will offer fresh lunches along with imported pastas, wines, and specialty goods, adding even more flavor to the East Side.
We’re excited to welcome Nadi Plates and celebrate the passion, creativity, and leadership that women like Nadia bring to our local business community. 🇮🇹✨
