Clock Shadow Creamery

Clock Shadow Creamery Clock Shadow Creamery was Milwaukee's first cheese factory! One of a few urban creameries in the country, we specialize in crafting fresh cheeses.

Clock Shadow was a spinoff from Cedar Grove Cheese which continues its legacy. The Clock Shadow Creamery, named after the nearby Rockwell/ Allen-Bradley Clock Tower, produces a variety of fine cheeses in the Walker's Point neighborhood. Our vision is to make fresh cheeses through practices that support the environment, small-scale family farms, and the neighborhood. We serve as an incubator for cu

rrent and future cheesemakers in Wisconsin. Our cheddar cheese curds (made every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday), award-winning quark, award-winning chevre, and ricotta are some of our customer's fresh favorites! The fresh goat cheeses are seasonally available. We also produce a variety of hard cheeses. These include our Sadie: Goat Cheddar, Capriko: Goat and Cow Milk Blend, and Cheddar cheeses with several flavors and ages. La Belle varieties, and Bon Bree Brick varieties are also made at our environmentally sustainable facility in the Walker's Point neighborhood. Purple Door Ice Cream and the Landmark Creamery started production here at the Clock Shadow building, but have grown into their own spaces now. While we are the first urban cheese factory in Wisconsin, our cheese makers are certainly aged - with wisdom. Clock Shadow Creamery was created by the owner of Cedar Grove Cheese. Cedar Grove Cheese was started in 1878, and is one of the the oldest cheese factories still operating today. That experience shines through in Clock Shadow's cheeses. Cedar Grove focuses on certified organic, specialty, and aged cheeses -using cow and sheep- at their location in Plain, Wisconsin. Clock Shadow Creamery founder, Bob Wills, grew up in the Milwaukee area. His first home was on Oklahoma Avenue, just about a mile south of the creamery. Our cheese factory continues to embody its founding values and embraces new relationships with our diverse community moving forward. Tours have been temporarily suspended due to Covid, but our retail is open, so stop by for some cheese and our helpful staff can take you through the cheese making process and answer any questions you may have! Story makes me appreciate how fortunate we were to have a good renter at Clock Shadow Creamery, and how appreciative I am that Hill Valley Dairy wants to continue the project. The author does a nice job of describing how cheese making gets into your bones and soul.

Great recognition of the role Norm and WDATCP played in helping us weather the pandemic, while providing quality food to people in need of help. Norm is a master of making connections. The day in the picture, where we helped distribute food, was a wonderful memory. The food community pulled together then to show off the connections that exist every day between farmers and eaters.

Norm Monsen, Dairy Economic Development Consultant at the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP), is a champion for Wisconsin’s dairy industry and was a critical partner to Hunger Task Force during the COVID-19 pandemic. In fortifying a coalition between DATCP, ...
