Mille's Italian Sausage - At the Wisconsin State Fair Since 1932 Five generations later, fairgoers are still lining up to enjoy these delicious treats.

Eighty-two years ago, Italian immigrants Antonette and Amatore Mille began selling their “secret recipe”, charcoal-grilled Italian sausages at church and street festivals in Milwaukee. Originally working out of a canvas-roofed stand with a floor of wood shavings, the first Fair locations were near The Little Theatre and The Old Mill. Soon after, Mike Mille Sr. developed our unique vertical grill,

and in 1971 Mille’s built the first permanent vendor’s stand at the Wisconsin State Fair. The current generation - Antoinette, Amatore, Michael and Mark - are often approached by fairgoers who tell us their mothers or fathers worked at Mille’s when they were kids. And so the tradition lives on! Stop by one of our two locations and say hi – and enjoy the same delicious grilled Italian sausage sandwich that we’ve been making since the 1930’s. Served on a fresh Italian roll with sautéed hot banana or mild bell peppers -- grab a napkin, it’s going to be juicy!
