We have a few spots left to enjoy kayaking, canoeing, paddle boating, hiking, or biking at The Blue Lotus Center in West Bend! Please make sure you fill out one form per person regardless of age. Anyone who doesn’t fill out a form will not be able to attend. Flor y Raiz MKE respects people’s right to consent of their pictures being taken and/or posted on social media and we ask that all participants respect that. Please make sure you are not taking pictures of people without asking them first, especially children.

A few years ago I asked my husband to stop spraying herbicides because I saw they affected our dogs negatively (some studies even show that it can increase certain cancer rate in dogs). What started as stopping the herbicides for our dogs has turned into digging deeper into how to grow food how our ancestors did or regeneratively. We try to minimize plastic use and work with beneficial insects and soil fungi and microbes to help the plants grow best. We did three sisters method this year like they do in Mexico.

I’ve loved being able to grow and explore crops from Mexico.

Thank you to Annie’s Heirloom Seeds for the purple tomatillos and The Black Radish MPLS for sharing cucamelon seeds.

Every year we continue to learn and connect more to our roots and community. I’ve learned that food really does connect us. In Mexico we use the squash blossom and I learned this year that the Hmong farmers do too. ♥️

We grow in raised beds because where we live there’s concern for lead.

Had a great time celebrating the first day of .

Grateful to be able to share this opportunity with new and returning community members. The best part, seeing people make new friendships, share experiences, and new knowledge. We loved sharing tea freshly harvested from and brewed a couple hours before the event (the kids drank it too! 🤗)

Thank you to for the water school grant opportunity.

This was such positive water experience in intergenerational community (from 3 year olds to seniors) at Pulaski Park (such a beautiful park, please check it out if you haven’t). Thank you for the water reflection and offering. Thank you Flor y Raiz MKE volunteers, thank you community members for making this such a beautiful experience, and thank you water and soil for providing such nutritious and delicious tea.

Lo pasamos de maravilla celebrando el primer día de .

Agradecidos de poder compartir esta oportunidad tanto con miembros nuevos de la comunidad como con aquellos que ya nos acompañaban. Lo mejor fue ver a la gente entablar nuevas amistades y compartir experiencias y nuevos conocimientos. Nos encantó compartir un té preparada con plantas recién cosechadas de , elaborada un par de horas antes del evento (¡los niños también la bebieron! 🤗).

Gracias a por la oportunidad de recibir la subvención para la escuela del agua.

Fue una experiencia muy positiva en torno al agua, compartida por una comunidad intergeneracional (desde niños de 3 años hasta personas mayores) en Pulaski Park (un parque precioso; si no lo conocen, ¡visítenlo!). Gracias a por la reflexión y la ofrenda dedicadas al agua. Gracias a los voluntarios de Flor y Raiz MKE y a los miembros de la comunidad por hacer de esto una experiencia tan hermosa; y gracias al agua y a la tierra por brindarnos una infusión tan nutritiva y deliciosa.
