We've been pretty quiet for a few months - three small kids on a farm is no joke. Thanks to friends new and old to help with the kids and in the barn, we're going to get through another winter lambing season. This one with extra cold temperatures.
What's Jeremie doing here? He's moving lambs from one building to another. The idea is that the mothers follow their lambs, even if they're loaded in a wagon. Sometimes it works better than others.
The pregnant sheep moved into an insulated building in December. After their lamb is born, they spend a day or two in a small pen together to bond, then they move into a larger mixing pen for a few days to how to find each other in a small crowd. After that, ewes and their lambs are moved to the larger open shed where they'll stay through the winter.
