Late May is crunch time on a veggie farm. Warm season crops need planting, planted crops need hoeing and trellising, cover crops need mowing, everything needs water (sheesh it's dry!), and mature crops need harvesting. Come enjoy my harvest at the Mineral Point Market tomorrow from 8:30-11.00 at Water Tower Park. Lots of crunchy, juicy, goodness this week!

The Mineral Point Market opens this Saturday May 2nd and I'll be there with some food! It's been a wild spring, but most field plantings have been put in on time in between the storms. This Saturday I will have lots of spinach and salad mix, mini bok choi, radishes, Swiss chard, rhubarb, arugula, and salad turnips. Grab some coffee and come say "hi". See you under the Water Tower!

"Well, your harvest must be about over", says everyone. Nope. Here's what I've harvested for today's Mineral Point Market: purple cauliflower, green cabbage, bunched beets, salad turnips, red radishes, french breakfast radishes, curly kale, lacinato kale, leeks, red bell peppers, green bell peppers, red and orange sweet frying peppers, jalapeno peppers, colorful snacking peppers, spinach, salad mix, butter lettuce, mini lettuces, kohlrabi, butternut squash, delicata squash, kabocha squash, roma tomatoes, yellow onions, shallots, basil, dill, sage, thyme. Last week we had to say "so long" to my favorite farm girl Ella. She's back out West to do environmental research and finish her senior year at college. I'm so grateful she could work with us in May & June. The farm is off to a great start! I'm also grateful for peas. They're coming in strong just in time for the Mineral Point Market tomorrow morning. What goes with peas? Carrots! Which are also plentiful. We also harvested beets, scallions, lettuces, salad mix, arugula, Swiss chard, kale, napa cabbage, the first zucchini and cucumbers, cilantro and dill, a bit of cauliflower and broccoli, kohlrabi, and garlic scapes. Who wants some crunchy veggies?! I'll be at the Mineral Point Market tomorrow morning from 8:30-11:00 with gorgeous beets, kohlrabi, green garlic, salad turnips, kale, big, beautiful lettuce heads, plus bok choy, spinach, salad mix, baby arugula, and a few lonely bunches of radishes. 87 degrees Thursday, 57 degrees today. Yup. We live in Wisconsin. Don't let the chill keep you from going to the Mineral Point Market today. Grab a scarf, buy some hot coffee and a treat, and pick up some local goodness. I'll have plenty of green things to cook: kale, chard, spinach, sprouting broccoli, bok choy, salad turnips, and lots of fresh salad greens. See you there!

Who's hungry for salad?! Opening day of the Mineral Point Market is tomorrow at Water Tower Park. I'll have a nice supply of salad mix, mini bok choi, spinach, arugula, salad turnips, radishes, and rhubarb. Everything except the rhubarb is from my unheated hoophouse, but field veggies are in and growing, too. See you tomorrow 8:30-11:00 and start your day off with local goodness!
