Jim and Andrea are back every Saturday at Cowtown Farmers Market and the garden veggie plants are the main story.
Every Saturday from 8a to 12p, look for us there. The odds are very good that we will have something you need for that fresh spring garden.

Andrea here. It is toasty here in Texas as we have all noticed.
I was out taking care of my little courtyard container garden this morning and I thought about all my plant loving friends I met over the years, and since I know we all have our people and our pets taken care of I wanted to share a few hints about container plants.
Of course, I don't have to mention this, but get them out of the direct sun if you can. Unless they are okra. Then just let them bake. Second option would be to shade them. If you, like me, have some that are difficult to move or shade, all is not lost.
They will struggle, they may not look as pretty, but they can do fairly well. The key is water. In my opinion right now you could not overwater an outdoor container plant if you tried. If they can cool all their stems and leaves and such continuously, they can make it. My plants here are getting 2 solid soakings a day. I have a temperamental tomatillo who needs a touch up in the afternoon. The kicker is this guy has not seen fit to grow even 1 little tomatillo and as I write this, I realize why. He needs a mate. I am certainly off my game, aren't I?
The main take away to this is they cannot dry out and maintain like they can on an 85 degree day. They will be dead-dead within hours if not minutes. If you are under water restrictions, do the best you can. If you can only get in 1 good soaking a day then reserve some in the shade to pour into hot roots.
So, there you go. I must go try to grow another tomatillo quickly. Enjoy this little graphic with a few more hints and keep safe and hydrated!
