Italian Almond Cookies are featured in my latest “Extras”newsletter. Sometimes a super simple cookie can be so much more. This one has my entire heart baked into it. This cookie and the post are dedicated to one of my dearest friends, Tedesco, who we lost too soon. I baked him these cookies often because he loved them and it was therapeutic for me. He was a treasure and I miss him!

Paris Packing Update: the red walking shoes in the 4th photo were the crowd favorite. Before you order them, you need to know they are men’s shoes (they didn’t have the fun colors in ladies 🤷🏼‍♀️), so you’ll need to figure out your size. I am typically a Women’s 9 and ordered a Men’s 7 1/2 or EU 40.

I’m headed back to Paris in a couple of weeks for my second annual Pastry Tour! We’ll be baking, eating, sipping, dancing, shopping, laughing, exploring and then eating more! Repeat! I actually love to pack for my trips, it gets me in a Parisian mindset, even though I am clearly far, far away!
This year I was drawn towards all things scarlet! Then I realized the red barn is my muse! ♥️

Sourdough Oat Bread and some real talk about living in the country are in the “Extras” newsletter! This is our daily loaf these days and the very first thing I baked in my new house. I brought my sourdough starter, Maude, across country and baked bread wherever we stopped.

Pumpkin Season is here and these are some of my favorite desserts to celebrate the fall. I love baking with pumpkin, especially roasted, which concentrates the sugars. Roasting a “pie” or “sugar” pumpkin is really easy, but all of the recipes are wonderful made with canned pumpkin. 🧡

Week 2 at Pie Tree Cottage: When I realized I wasn’t on vacation! 😂🫣 My daily loaf of Sourdough Oat Bread (recipe), an emergency jam class (for my mental health), a DIY butcher block work bench and being powerless are just some of what I learned this week.
