We're harvesting tulips multiple times a day to catch them at the right stage and live their best life in your vase. This is harvest stage vs. open flower on my favorite variety 'Gudoschnick Double'.

Our dahlia tuber pre-order is open on our website until April 24. Get your orders in if you want to incorporate dahlias in your garden this year! Our pick up event is Saturday, April 25 from 10-noon with .
This dahlia is called Coralie. We still have a good amount of inventory of her left! I have been very impressed by this variety-- this is definitely one that makes me stop and stare for a little bit. She's one of the larger flowered varieties we have, the stems and petals are rigid. I avoid growing the dinner plate varieties because their petals bruise so easily. But Coralie is a great alternative for an impressive bloom size (about 5-6") with a life span longer than the trip from your garden inside to the vase 😋

Dahlia Tuber Sale is Live!

Now is the time to start planning your gardens for summer! Dahlias are one of our main flower crops, we dig and divide our tuber stock each year to supply growers with tried and true varieties for their own gardens. We have curated a selection of dahlias that are strong, productive plants in our Minnesota climate.

We even got to pop up again with us for our pick up event! They have a new brick n mortar, so aren't popping up like they used to, but their namesake flower and hopeful spring energy will bring them down south for the day.

I learned something new this winter from some cut flower research out of University of Utah (thanks !) Their research trials showed dahlias are healthiest and most productive with 3 inches of water a week. The general recommendation for vegetables is 1 inch per week. So dahlias are really thirsty! It makes sense, because they are such large vegetative plants producing a lot of flowers, but I had never seen any specific data or recommendation for dahlia water needs before.

We've always watered on an 'as needed' basis. When you put your finger in the soil, and it feels like it needs water, we water (not very scientific, I know). But this year, I'm excited to try running our irrigation more intentionally to hit that 3in per week mark on the dahlias. We'll see how it affects their production!

This Wednesday April 1, at 11am we are opening our dahlia tuber sale for the year. You too can grow these amazingly beautiful flowers (just make sure you water 😉) Shipping and local pick up available.

A little bit of a weather whiplash as we enter into spring-- but these ranunculus are looking promising! 🤞 they prefer a long, cool start to get the tall juicy stems. You'll find these beauties in our May and June CSA!

As the end of year sends us all into reflection, here's me in my feels with some sincere thoughts about these flowers and this year of grief and joy.

We made these arrangements for a memorial service this year, the request was 'Colorful Northwoods'. The woman who came to pick them up made such an impact on me. She immediately broke down in tears when I greeted her, it was her mother who passed away unexpectedly, and everything was still so raw for her. She and I didn't know each other, but we instinctually went in for a big long hug together. I lost my brother this year, and that grief is something I am wrestling with too. There was comfort in hugging her so hard because we both really needed it.

As I reflect on 2025, I can think of so many connective moments like this. I'm grateful for this community that is coming together around these flowers. If I hadn't started planting them, I wouldn't have come across so many amazing people who are now in my orbit. My crew, our florist pals we see weekly at our market, our neighbors, all the folks who come through the studio with good vibes, the people who seek out our flowers for their special moments. It's carried me through this season. Everyone is going through something behind the scenes, but these flowers draw us in to give us a moment for real connection. Thanks for being here, we'll keep planting flowers if you keep coming round. 💛
