♨️Weekend menu drop!
This week we were inspired by the legendary sound of the Twin Cities. The musical genius that shapes us into the people we are today. We’re paying a little respect through food. The only way we know how to a few of our favorite musical legends of the Twin Cities.
Marcus’s ‘Funkytown’ sandwich and ‘Jungle Love’ syrup are inspired by the Minneapolis Sound - a blend of funk, synth-pop, rock, and R&B. Created by Prince and characterized by tight grooves, punchy drum machines, and slick attitude. , and his protégés, added swagger and humor to the mix, pushing the style into pop culture. Together, they made the Twin Cities a hub for innovative, electrifying music with flavor as big as its attitude.
➡️Fun fact: The sound Funkytown was created before Minneapolis was recognized as being a “funky” place, before the aptly named Prince and the Revolution changed the game.
Kelsey’s desserts are based on her deep love for local hip hop and the memories of spending her teens and twenties consumed by the scene.
‘Just Cause’ Maple Bourbon Pecan Blondies are an ode to the old local watering hole - sweet, salty, and nutty - at Cause, good times were had by all. 🥃
‘Lucy’s’ Layered Dark Chocolate— a dark chocolate caramel berry cake inspired by Minneapolis hip hop is a bold, layered creation that honors independent spirit, creative fusion, and community-driven artistry—with every bite, a tribute to an era of musical authenticity and collaboration and a love letter to and for showing a young teenager what creativity, independence, and collaboration look like.
