For 90 years, one framework has governed how adult beverages reach consumers in this country: licensed producers, independent oversight, age-restricted retail, and clear accountability at every step.

The W**e and Spirits Wholesalers of America is asking Congress to apply that same proven framework to h**p beverages. The model the country already trusts — federal licensure, independent testing, a federal excise tax, 21+ age restriction, and state authority over retail.

WSWA represents distributors who have spent generations moving adult beverages responsibly. When they say this category belongs in a regulated system, they are speaking from experience. HBA is proud to stand with them to save h**p beverages.

🚨 The next 48 HOURS could decide the future of h**p beverages. 🚨
Congress is deciding whether to extend a h**p prohibition in the Continuing Resolution — a move that could wipe out the h**p beverages millions of adults legally enjoy today.

Meanwhile, the Lawful H**p Protection Act (HR 9830) offers a path to a clear, stable federal framework, and states like North Carolina (HB328) are moving fast to ban h**p-derived products.

We can't sit this one out. Senators need to hear from us NOW. Tell them to support a smart, transparent h**p marketplace — regulation not prohibition.

Time is critical. Take action today. Link in bio.

A national restaurant chain is now serving h**p beverages, and doing it responsibly.

Logan's Roadhouse is testing h**p-derived THC drinks at 14 of its Texas locations. Every drink is capped at 5 milligrams of THC, limited to three per guest, restricted to customers 21 and over with ID, and deliberately not served alongside alcohol.

That last detail matters. It is exactly the kind of responsible-service standard HBA has argued this category should be built on: clear dosing, age verification, and sensible limits.

The h**p beverage market reached at least a billion dollars in 2025. As more established, mainstream operators enter it with guardrails like these, the argument for a federal regulatory framework gets stronger, not weaker. This is a category that is ready to be regulated.

The numbers behind this category are now in one place.

The Future of Drinking: HBA VIP Data Report brings together anonymized national sales data from across the h**p beverage industry, captured through HBA's work with VIP (Vermont Information Processing). It is the clearest picture yet of how this category is actually performing: triple-digit year-over-year growth, tens of thousands of retail accounts, and state-by-state trends that show where the market is expanding and where regulatory uncertainty is holding it back.

For members, it is a planning tool. For policymakers, it is evidence — real data on jobs, retail footprint, and economic activity at stake as the November 12 deadline approaches.

The full report is $499, and HBA members receive 20 percent off. Not ready to commit? Download the free snapshot and test-drive the data first.
