It’s a very surreal moment when God calls on you to answer a prayer you never heard 🥹

A few days ago I gave my neighbors some excess fruit I had, not wanting it to spoil. Just another random act in the life of a produce dealer 😅

The response I received from one of them damn near brought me to tears because she had shared with me that times have been hard for her and she had just prayed to God for help!

She didn’t know I gave food away for a living and she spoke about how embarrassed she was to not be in a position to really provide for her children in the ways she had previously been able to. So asking for help had been extremely hard for her.

It was right then and there that I realized all of these years of dedication towards this food justice movement had been preparation for this exact moment.

To be in a position to serve those whose stories walk alongside me everyday but go unheard. To nurture the “strong Black woman” who was just a mother at the end of the day trying to shield her children from the pain she was facing. To pour love into her and hold her hand and tell her you don’t gotta do it alone. I got you 💐

That was a moment I’ll never forget because it reminded me why I commit myself to the things I so often want to stop because it’s harder than what it may seem.

Finding myself in a constant tug of war of saving myself or carrying the weight of the world I envision for the future Black babies of tomorrow!

Which is a feeling I’m sure many Black community organizers can relate to but always find ourselves pushing through because what we’re fighting for is truly bigger than ourselves or even this moment we’re living in.

It is the reflection of God in these experiences that reaffirm our commitments and give us the strength to continue going despite all odds stacked against us.

And it is our daily choices to honor our ancestors whose divine protection guides and rewards the sacrifices we make everyday to advocate for those who have been silenced.

I share this story with y’all to remind you that we all have a purpose to serve within our lifetime. What challenges you to evolve, love and create is your exact contrib

MINNESOTA AIR QUALITY ALERT: Historic Hazardous Levels (Maroon Category) 😷⚠️

Over 800 wildfires are burning between Northern Minnesota & Canada!

Since yesterday, we have been exposed to dangerously high concentrations of pollutions in the air 😷 This isn’t just bad for sensitive groups—it is dangerous for everyone.

Here’s what you should do to keep yourself and loved ones safe:

• Stay Indoors: Keep your windows and doors tightly shut. Run air purifiers or your AC on “recirculate” if you can.

• Avoid Outdoor Exertion: Skip the outdoor workout, run, or heavy physical labor today.

• Mask Up if You Must Go Out: Standard cloth or surgical masks will not protect you from these microscopic particles. You must wear a well-fitted N95 or KN95 respirator to actually filter out the smoke.

• Protect Pets: Keep your pets indoors as much as possible right now, too.

Please check on your neighbors, especially elderly family members, kids, and anyone with asthma or heart conditions! They will be extremely vulnerable at this time!

Updates on the quality of air can be found directly in the Weather app on IPhones!

Stay safe 💗

Had our first cohort for the Black Sibyls Fellowship yesterday and it still all feels so surreal 🥹

To have the privilege to work with such talented and beautiful young Black women is truly an honor!

These ladies are our future and need our support to be informed, educated and empowered to liberate our communities with love and passion.

Over these next five weeks we will be mentoring them on their journeys to become the change in which they seek!

This unique fellowship is a first of its kind providing ancestral wisdom, hands-on training and mentorship all from the classroom of life!

We’re extremely excited to connect them with a network of Black community leaders who will aid them to lead their own community projects!

What was once a small dream has now become a reality.

This is what resistance and revolution looks like right here in Minnesota ❤️
