HAPPY NATIONAL TEQUILA DAY! Here at North Loop Wine & Spirits, we have over 100 options of varying tequilas, ranging from Blanco, Reposado, Añejo and Mezcal. Our selection features only bottles that have agave, as the spirit is true to the ingredient at its core. Tequila is made with a single agave varietal — Agave tequilana Weber, blue variety. We have received some new Mezcal this week! New arrivals include Jabalí Reserva, Borrego Sacrificio, Cempasúchil Reserva, Pechuga Sacrificio, Castilla Reserva, and Coyote Reserva.
Bozal uses an artisanal approach towards its production in order to create an unadulterated style of mezcal. Its 200-year-old tradition involves agave hearts cooked in earthen pit ovens, later to be crushed and mashed by a stone Tahona wheel. Without the addition of artificial yeast, open air fermentation allows the sugars to ferment utilizing naturally occurring yeast. The mezcal is then purified through a double-distillation process.
