🦌 Day 2 of Shotgun Season 🦌
It’s a cold one out there! Yesterday’s snow made for some beautiful views on day one, and we were able to fill one tag — two more to go! We’re taking a break from the bone-chilling wind this afternoon but will be back in the woods for the evening hunt. Wishing everyone out there this weekend a safe and successful season! ❄️🤍

Thankful for time outdoors, the memories made together, and the blessings that come with providing for our family. 🙏

🧄 Garlic Planting – Finished! 🧄
I finished planting the garlic on Friday! It was cold, windy, and definitely not the most enjoyable gardening experience — but it’s done! We added straw to tuck the bulbs in for the winter, and now we wait. 🤞🏻 Here’s hoping I wasn’t too late getting them in the ground! 🌬️❄️

🍂 Fall Garden Cleanup 🍂
Fall cleanup was in full swing around here this week! Since I had a few days off work, we took advantage of the nicer weather to get some things done. We pulled up most of the dead plants, cultivated some of the beds, and got everything into the compost to build next year’s soil. The pigs sure loved the broccoli and cabbage plants I pulled! Maddi enjoyed a good audiobook while she picked our glass gem corn. 🌽❤️

I was able to get some of the garlic planted on Wednesday and am finishing up the rest today. It feels good to start wrapping up another garden season (even if we’re a little behind and have plenty left to do 😂) and begin dreaming about next year’s harvest. 🧄🙏

My favorite spot all summer… and my least favorite come fall clean-up! The bean trellis is always so full of life and beauty when it’s growing, but it sure puts up a fight when it’s time to take it down. 🌿😅

Wesley spent the day helping his uncles move cornstalk bales. He was all smiles and took his job driving those loaded trailers seriously! Love seeing him learn from family and soak up every bit of farm life. 🚜🌽

When the day feels a little too full and the heart a little too tired — “Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I.” 💛

A gentle reminder that we’re never meant to carry it all alone.

🐷 Gate greeters, every single day. 🐷

They’ve grown so fast! Every day they’re right at the gate, ready for garden treats and curious as ever. Always thankful for healthy animals and the many ways God’s blessings show up around the farm.

They’re almost ready to go to their new homes. If you’ve been thinking about raising your own pork or just adding a pig to your farm/homestead, now’s the perfect time to reach out! 💕

The past couple of months have flown by on the farm! Here’s a little of what we’ve been up to. 🌱🐖💛

The first frost has come and gone, and the garden is officially done for the year—though we’re a little behind on fall clean up and planting our garlic. 🧄❄️

Summer and fall sports for the kiddos came to an end, and our second year of homeschooling is in full swing.

My kitchen has been full with all things preserving and canning, and Wesley even got to break in the (unfinished) garage kitchen by butchering his first deer! 🦌🥩

Amid all that, we’ve also welcomed another litter of baby pigs since my last post! 🐷💛

Life on the farm is full of hard work, lessons, frustrations, compromises, change, countless blessings, and many little moments that make it all worthwhile. The days are long and the work never ends, but through every season I’m reminded how much God provides—and I’m thankful every single day. 🌾💛

Here’s a look back at the last two months—garden, pantry, hunting, and of course, the sweetest pigs! 🌿🥫🐖✨

🐷✨ They’re here! ✨🐷

Yesterday, Marge welcomed a beautiful litter of baby pigs! She’s an attentive (and very protective) mama—so these quick snaps are the best I could manage without her giving me the side-eye.

Life on the farm holds so many blessings, but new life will always be one of the sweetest. 💕🌱
