We finished shearing the sheep yesterday, and my friend Brenda and I got some lamb snuggles! I continue to soak up spring's arrival, gathering moments of beauty as we prepare to hand our farm over to a new family and move the sheep and goats to their new homes. Heartfilling and heartache, every day.

When it was very cold this winter, Oliver the barn cat moved into the heated mill, when he was feeling under the weather. Fully recovered, he continued to come into the mill at night during the cold weather. Now that the nights are warm and full of life, he has moved back outside most of the time. However, he asks to come in for the mornings and sleep after his "night watchman" shift. This was Oliver watching me leave for work,content that he had done a good job and deserved a cat nap. 🐱

We still have some jacob sheep that are needing a place to land, before our move to Nova Scotia. Reach out if you might be interested. We have not bred the jacobs in a few years, so the younger girls are unproven and fiber homes would be ideal.

Odin and Otto left for their new home, yesterday. They are the last of the 2025 bucks to head out. We still have a few goats here, waiting for their travel dates. It's getting pretty empty in the barns...

As we pack boxes and prepare for our move, I am soaking up our last spring on this farm. The flowering trees and shrubs we planted are glorious this year. I have never lived any place as long as we have been here, never seen my plantings mature. It'shard to say goodbye, even knowing we are going to another very special place. This farm and the life we made here will always live in my heart.

Bella's little girl was a little slow to figure out nursing yesterday. When that happens, I make sure they stay warm and have a full belly to give them enough strength and calories to keep hunting. I will space out the feedings a little, so they still get hungry enough to hunt for mom's teat, but I want them to have times when they are full enough to rest and sleep, too. I gave her a bottle and some colostrum a few times,, and kept an eye on them. I do not rush to create a bottle baby, I want them with Mom. Last night, she was trying, but still had not figured it out. She went to bed vigorous with a full belly. This morning, I went out with her bottle and she was cuddled up with her brother. She got up, and went straight to Bella and started nursing. Hooray!!!!!!

Florabelle waited until I got home from NHSW to have her babies. I went out with the dogs and heard the distinct sounds of a Mama shortlist to her babies. Sure enough, lovely twins with an attentive Bella. Papa Leon is hanging close by, too. 🥰
