Birthday parties, school field trips, company retreats, family reunions, mixers, etc. Event Facility Rental - Petting Zoo, hayrides, giant tortoise exhibit, horse rides, cattle pen, pony rides, photo sessions, s’mores, arts & crafts, piggy chase, pavilion, fire pit and property rental. Please note, this is a real working farm and ranch. Our horse riding sessions are a non-structured, informal activity where nobody is having to overly prompt children or adult riders with demands, instruction or orders. Instead, the rider is guided to notice his or her own feelings, fear and anxieties and to slowly overcome those by interacting and trusting these huge magnificent animals. Riders are asked to focus on empathy, compassion and trust. Through horses, youths and adults can obtain the ability to calmly respond to a situation instead of reacting emotionally. They learn how to interpret their horse's reactions and stay calm in order to co-operate with a large animal. These skills are not only useful when they work with horses but are also important when interacting with people. Interpreting the feelings of a horse teaches empathy which enables understanding the feelings and situations of others. Much of modern interaction between kids and adult alike is with hi-tech media such as cell phones, tablets, and computers. As a result, their exposure to the appearance of others has significantly decreased in recent years, reducing their ability to be empathic. Through horses, people become aware of the needs of their animals often before their own needs, enhancing their ability to empathize. Recent studies have shown that regular exposure to a horse regulates the immune system, lowers stress levels and improves well-being.

Our little farm. 💕🙏🏻

What a wonderful memory to look back on!

Four years ago today, the National Association of REALTORS® recognized our family ranch, Hacienda La Hortencia, and the meaningful experiences we provide for children with special needs.

Our ranch has always been about so much more than animals and open spaces. It’s about creating a place where children can explore freely, build confidence, experience kindness, and develop meaningful connections.

Having our efforts recognized nationally was truly an honor, but the greatest reward has always been seeing the smiles, joy, and unforgettable moments shared by these children and their families.

Hacienda La Hortencia is more than a ranch. It’s a place where memories are made, connections are formed, and everyone is welcome.

At Hacienda La Hortencia, special needs children interact with animals to develop empathy and trust. REALTOR® Hortencia Camargo’s family ranch in Mission, Texas, offers many hands-on experiences including a petting zoo, cattle pen, and horseback riding. “[The] ranch allows special needs children a chance to truly be themselves, and the room to explore at their own pace. The animals teach forgiveness, love, trust, a sense of responsibility—and, more importantly, a sense of connection.”

Turns out milking a cow is a lot harder than it looks. 🐄😂

After several minutes of intense concentration, teamwork, and negotiations with the cow, we can officially report that… nobody’s quitting their day job to become a dairy farmer. 🤠🥛

At Hacienda La Hortencia, we specialize in making memories, sharing laughs, and giving families experiences they won’t find anywhere else.

Have your next birthday party, family reunion, school event, or special celebration with us—and don’t worry, the cows are very patient with beginners. ❤️🌅

A little music, a little dancing, and a beautiful afternoon at Hacienda La Hortencia.

One couple spent most of the afternoon on the dance floor, enjoying the music and having a great time. It was one of those simple moments that makes an event feel special.

Thanks to everyone who came out and spent the day with us.

Our very own Romeo Camargo kept the music going until 3:00 AM! 🤠🎶

They say someone sang until the cows came home… well, at Hacienda La Hortencia, that happened literally! 😂🐄

From country favorites and karaoke classics to nonstop laughter, dancing, and unforgettable memories, Romeo had everyone entertained long after most people would have called it a night.

There’s just something special about sitting under the South Texas stars, surrounded by family and friends, listening to live music echo across the ranch.

If you want to catch Romeo sing live just swing by our next public event! 🥳👏🏼🤩🙌🏼

Thank you, Romeo, for bringing the energy, the talent, and the fun that kept the party going into the early morning hours! 🎵⭐

At Hacienda La Hortencia, the good times don’t end when the sun goes down—they keep going until the cows come home! 🐄🎤❤️
