Farm Yard

Farm Yard We help you farm your yard. We are Farm Yard. BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS, LOCALLY SOURCED, SUSTAINABLY GROWN. Which is why Farm Yard is different.

We grow & create beautiful floral designs for weddings and events, unique to you, and to the place and season. We are dedicated to sourcing locally and using environmentally regenerative practices. As seen in: Brides, Mountain Bride, Junebug, Wedding Chicks, Brides & Weddings. OUR MISSION

The floral industry can be hard on our planet with waste with the shipping of flowers thousands of miles and

high energy input of growing perfect blooms. We are a Moab Florist that believes in finding the beauty in what is grown and responsibly foraged right here in Moab. We grow our flowers right here on our own micro flower farm, where we use environmentally conscious and regenerative gardening practices to sustainably grow all of our blooms in the Utah desert. The challenge of creating only from what is available locally is one we embrace, and the resulting floral designs are incredibly unique and beautiful. Our mission is not only to create stunning and waste free floral arrangements, but also to tread gently upon the earth. We are taking bookings for next season happening now. YARD FARMING SUPPORT

We also want you to Farm your Yard. We encourage, educate and empower backyard gardeners through hands on demonstrations of gardening techniques, garden installations, and consulting. We preserve and distribute produce. We revive backyard fruit production through installation of new fruit trees, revitalization of old fruit bearing trees, pruning education, and general maintenance. OUR DREAM

We dream about a day when everyone with a yard will confidently be producing food in some capacity. We dream that food normally being wasted will be preserved and distributed. We are excited for the day when everyone will view their backyards as a path to sustainability. GROWING TECHNIQUES

Farm Yard uses organic growing practices. We think growing food should be done by working with nature, not against it. Permaculture, sustainable agriculture, biodynamics, closed loop system, all natural: call it whatever you want - we think it all just makes a lot of sense. Our growing techniques focus on soil building using on-site compost, manure, mulch, crop rotation and cover cropping. We love companion planting for pest control and soil health and use lots of plants to attract pollinators. We promote water conservation by using drip irrigation, mulch and rain water harvesting. WHAT CAN FARM YARD DO FOR YOU? See our Services page for some of the things we offer. We want to help in any way we can from a 30 minute consultation to the installation of raised beds and a drip system in your front yard. Contact us and let’s get growing! (pun intended)

MEET JESS

Hi I’m Jess. I live in the beautiful Moab, Utah. I had my first garden in my parents’ backyard in high school and have been growing food ever since. In college, I studied global environmental studies. The more I learned about our issues as a planet, the more I saw the need for stronger communities where food is produced locally and with the greater environment in mind. After falling in love with the red rocks and the amazing people of Moab, I moved here and worked for the past five years at an organization dedicated to growing food, empowering community and teaching youth about environmental stewardship. I met and worked with many backyard gardeners and was constantly inspired by them. I saw the need for more home food production in our town and a resource of information and materials for those already producing their own food. When I am not digging in the dirt, I am exploring the canyon country with my husband and toddler, climbing rocks, cooking delicious meals with friends and planning the next big road trip.

Lots of reflection happening over here as the season comes to a close. Feeling grateful for another year of flowers and the best people. This is a favorite image from the spring. When the tulips were 🔥 captured on film by

Every flower is my favorite flower and every time I make a bouquet I say it’s my favorite. Because in the moment it is. But there was something special about this one and I don’t think it has to do with just the bouquet. I remember how excited I was that the dahlias were finally blooming. I remember running to the shed for that fennel from last year that a friend let me forage and is making sure I get it again this year. I remember ordering seeds for the “hot biscuits” amaranth and giggling at the name. I remember being really proud to have finally grown some killer brown lisianthus in the hoop house. I remember Emily picked up the bouquet from the gym where I had stashed it in the shower because I really needed a workout that day. I remember the crazy skies, the double rainbow and the trusting, sweet couple. Sometimes it’s strange working with a perishable art form like flowers. But then a gallery from the inbox. The images literally take my breath away and bring it all back.

I haven’t posted in a while because… well I don’t know why. Maybe it’s just tough to figure out what to say on this strange spot on the internet when the world around you is such a rollercoaster.

BUT… the flowers are beautiful right now, I live in the best little community and I am so grateful for this work. Thank you to all who have reached out concerned about the floods - the gardens are in good shape 💕

Loved making this bright wedding bouquet for a lovely couple this week.
