It was a brisk -13 degrees when we started but our amazing crew had no complaints and successfully penned the herd the first try. We are lucky to have such a great crew taking care of our relatives the pte. If you see them make sure to thank them and shake their hand. Brody Hall, Lucas Curley, Isaac Brown, Patrick Marshall, Jasper Hill, Ethan Eagle Chasing and David McLane.

Tuesday we received 20 Yellowstone bulls. Welcome home to our brothers and we look forward to bringing their genetics into our herd. Wopila to ITBC and our relatives at Fort Peck!

What an amazing day. Local foods were distributed to Cheyenne River residents in Dupree today! We had a great turnout and people received all locally produced onions, carrots, peppers, sweet corn, red potatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, watermelon, honey, ground beef and ground buffalo. Imagine the impact this could have if these wholesome local products were always available. We are building a local food system and strengthening our food sovereignty. A huge shoutout to our amazing team with the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Buffalo Authority Corp and the Dupree High School FFA for all their hard work and making sure everyone was taken care of.

CRST Local Food Distribution Program Watermelon Giveaway!!

After first focusing on distributing to some of our rural East and West End community's, we have about 100 watermelons left. We will be at the Veteran's Food Pantry in Eagle Butte on September 16, 2024 to distribute the last of the watermelons. It will be on a first come, first serve basis.

The CRST Local Food Distribution Program Watermelon Giveaway Pop-Up in Dupree on September 4, 2024 was a fantastic turnout! Our goal was to connect with Cheyenne River residents, especially in our rural communities, to get them registered for and excited about the CRST Local Food Distribution Program. Farm-to-School coordinator, Irona Howe, did exactly that by personally assisting over 60 Cheyenne River residents from the communities of Cherry Creek, Bear Creek, Dupree, Eagle Butte, Iron Lightning, Red Elm, Red Scaffold, Sans Arc, Takini, and Thunder Butte on how to register for our program! Wopila tanka to all of our Cheyenne River residents and Irona Howe for making the pop-up a success!

With that, we are back on the road with three more watermelon giveaways and are looking forward to meeting you! Come get a watermelon, ask us questions, and register for our program!

Reminder: These watermelon giveaways are open to ALL residents on the Cheyenne River Reservation and are stationary, Rez Runners will not be making deliveries.

Got to sit down and visit with the amazing Chef Justin Warner today! If you’re in Rapid City you have to try Bokujō Ramen at 518 Mount Rushmore Road and BB’s Natural Wine Bar at 724 St. Joesph…he’s doing great things. Was awesome to sit down and talk food with him!
