I get asked all the time at farmers market if I sell my raw goat milk for drinking and cooking. I don't, as most of mine goes to the freezer for soap! I always refer people to Muddy Boots Homestead, though. They're located just one mile from me, south of Molalla, and the milk from their Alpine herd is amazing! You must pick up on the farm, but it's worth the short, beautiful drive to the outskirts of town. đź’›

“How long does raw goat milk last?” is a common question new customers ask often ask. This jar was in the fridge unopened for a week. While I was putting it in my coffee this morning I realized it was from last Wednesday, not yesterday. Tastes as fresh as if it was milked this morning. Keep your milk in a cold fridge (36-38°), don’t leave it on the counter and don’t drink directly out of the jar and it should stay fresh 10-14 days.

🍎 This is one of the old apple trees on our property. Maybe as old as our house that was built in the 1930's? No clue how old it is or what variety, but Drew has been cleaning it up and trying to maintain it a little bit. It's been so much happier since getting attention and the apples are decent when you beat the worms to them! The billy goats love this time of year when apples fall into their pen.

SO, WHY DO FARM FRESH APPLES TURN BROWN SO QUICKLY?

They lack the chemical coatings, synthetic anti-browning treatments, and low-PPO breeding found in grocery store varieties. When you cut an apple, it breaks cell structures that release a natural enzyme called polyphenol oxidase (PPO) that reacts with oxygen to create a brown pigment. Fast browning is actually a sign of a fresh, unaltered fruit rich in natural antioxidants!

Every time I pick these apples, I get Counting Crows stuck in my head.

"I don't care about spots on my apples,
leave me the birds and the bees..."

This is disgusting!

This is disgusting!

The "egg" is made by synthetically printing a copy of the chicken gene for egg white protein. the gene is inserted into yeast, where it becomes a part of the yeast's DNA.
the yeast is sealed in a large steel tank called a bioreactor & fed sugar. it multiplies endlessly on its own - every new cell carries the chicken gene. Weeks later, the yeast is filtered out. what's left is dried into powder and sold as "egg white protein."
