It is time to get cabbages, broccoli and cauliflower into the ground. $3 for a 6 pack. I can make custom 6 packs. Pick up at the farm or orders can be delivered down to Union Mills Feed on Friday. Wednesday is the last day to put in an order. On Thursday I will be planting the ones that are left.
Will have fall plantings available mid August.
Broccoli is Gypsy
Cabbage is Ruby Perfection, Tendersweet and Fargo
Cauliflower is Snow Crown and Earlisnow.

It's a beautiful day to...... not plant.
Seriously, the sun, the heat, the wind, it's all bad for your tender plants. But it is a good time get plants and start hardening them off.
I've got tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, squash, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, flowers, basil, and even a few blackberries and black caps.
I'll be here in the hoop houses all day today. To come up during the weekday shoot me a text (503-333-0168) to make sure I'll be around. I can also bring orders down with me on Friday to Union Mills Feed when I'm there with The Feedshack.

Well today hasn't gone as planned. Drinking coffee after I finished mopping and I hear those 3 words. "Cows are out". Sure enough there's a steer on the wrong side of the fence. Got grain and watched him jump back over the fence. Only now he has wire wrapped around his neck and dragging behind so everyone else can step on it. 🙄
Fence is finally fixed and rewired, steer is free and I'm bummed because when I turned it back on I didn't get to see that ornery beast test it. Grandpa said he gave a good hop.
Back to the original plan. Pulling shade cloth over the main hoop house and potting up more plants. I have some really nice tomatoes that are ready to go. Plants aren't huge but they've got a great root system. Still too cold at night to put out without protection. Maybe next weekend? I'll have full list of everything that is ready mid week.
Will be on the farm Sunday for pickup or I can haul plants down with me to Union Mills Feed when I'm there with The Feedshack on Friday and Saturday.
But first, because why not, I need to get rid of all of Frankies deer parts she brought in since I've been out working. At least so far it's only skeleton and not grossness.

Spring weather 🙄. I seriously contemplated putting the shade cloth back on the green house. It was hard to keep the temp down in it this past week. Glad I didn't. My weather app is now saying chance of snow mixing in and a couple nights with temps down around 30. Winter is not quite done on the hill yet.

This is not the complete list of what will available at the farm. There will be other vegetables and varieties as well as flowers and some perennials. Farm will be open the end of April.

It is pot up week.
Finishing potting up tomatoes & peppers for the last few growing weeks before hitting the gardens. It is also time to seed cucumbers and squashes for planting out the first week of May.
Interested in a bulk garden flat of plants? Tomatoes and Peppers $1.50. Cucumbers $.50ea. Squash and Pumpkins $.75.
Flat must total 50 plants; can mix and match. Note for tomatoes and peppers: They are not big plants but the seedling size I put out in my own garden. They grow quicker and have less transplant shock than larger plants.
Contact the farm for varieties and to order. Orders must be in by Sunday the 12th. Picked up the first week of May.
I don't have service at the hoop houses but will respond to messages tonight when I get in. (I'll also post a list of varieties available tonight).

That time of year. Didn't get my new section ready so I have a few leftover trees from planting.
Noble, Nordman, Spruce. $1.50 each.
Also have a few 6 packs of Broccoli, (gypsy) Cabbage (tendersweet) and Cauliflower (earli snow) $3. In about 3 weeks I'll have a lot more ready to go.
Rhubarb 3gal $8. (Victoria)
Pick up at the farm or at my food truck on Friday and Saturday at Union Mills.
Tomatoes, peppers and flowers ready at beginning of May.

Feeling Spring yet? Here on the farm...
Current status- light snow
Expected next 3 days - 3-4" rain.
Saturday and Sunday- chance snow/rain.

Yep, that's Spring.
Weather chaos aside, my daffodils are blooming about 3 weeks ahead of schedule and they got snow on them this morning so winter could be done. Calendar says it is time to seed tomatoes, cold crops and a few flowers. Petunia, snaps, eucalyptus and dahlia seedlings are all ready to pot up. Hoping the sun is out every so often to keep the hoop house a bit warmer.
Next week it's time to pick up my tree orders and get them in the ground. Busy season is here. Check out the link for all the chores it's time to do in the garden.

We suggest using March to plan out your vegetable garden for summer harvest and to get your lawn off to a solid start for the season. There are even some vegetables that can be planted once the soil reaches 40° F. Learn more in this guide.

It's feeling like Spring. My daphne is in full bloom already, while I love the smell, it shouldn't be blooming for another 3 weeks.
Daphne in bloom means it is time to get going out in the garden. this week I'll be sowing some sweet peas in my high hoops and starting a round of brassicas for an early planting.

Seed sorting time.
Oh all the tomatoes!
37 regular, 15 cherry and 8 sauce.
Don't think I'll be buying any more this season even though some of the new ones looked really tempting.
Next up peppers. They are about the same. I should only need a couple hot ones. It's almost time to start those.
