Who We Are
We are Jeff and Tina Gilbert. Jeff is from L.A. and has had more success playing guitar in heavy metal bands, than growing anything and Tina is from Maine where the temperatures are brutal and the growing season is short. We moved to the area in 2015 from West Virginia, looking for a place to build a farm. At first our goal was to be a self sufficient family. As time has gone on, we have decided to share in the bounty of our farm.
We have tried different methods of growing and we have had successes and failures. Through persistence and continuing education, we are learning the nuances of growing healthy, tasty, organic food in the heat of the South. Jeff still can't grow anything, but he is the builder of anything Tina needs to make the farm work. He has constructed chicken coops, duck houses, goat barns and greenhouses. His skills are endless. Tina can grow just about anything except avocados. She just can't get those seeds to germinate for anything!
This summer (2019) will be our biggest yet. We will be cultivating nearly an acre of our land for bio-intensive vegetable gardening, with high summer being our least productive time of the year. However, with 250 feet of high tunnels, we hope to maintain the microgreens, tomatoes and cucumbers for near continuous production.
