Winter sowing a whole bunch of unique natives in the greenhouse over the winter. Things that I want to add and/or see more on our property.
Bush’s Poppy Mallow, Tall Larkspur, Firew**d, Lead Plant, Pasque flower, Ground Plum, Fire Pink, Queen on the Prairie (I collected seed from this one from a couple of elusive plants I found in our prairie), Bottle Venetian, Prairie Blue Eyed grass, Fire Pink, Tall Ironw**d, Small Flower - Fame Flowers, Wild Hyacinth and one that is only found here in the Driftless - Amethyst Shooting Star. I had ONE of those last year live through the season. I also seeded a ton more Joe Pye (thanks to my dear friend Jess!) and a ton of butterfly w**d in honor of our dog, Tasul, that we we lost last year way too young. 🧡
Out IN the prairie and through the woods I put down a whole bunch of Trillium seeds, Blue Flag irises, Ironw**d, Trout Lily and some other seeds this late fall. I collected a whole lot of our own native seed that I throw everywhere I go along my ways.
Goodnight seeds. Here are three cheers to stratifying over winter and coming up like little gifts in the spring. Sleep tight. 💤
Thank you Prairie Moon Nursery for always having the best native seed varieties, and thank you to this land we steward and share our life with. ❤
Happy New Year!
