BYOCC for the next 2 weeks! I thought we had more but alas I was wrong. So while we wait for the shipment to come in, throw them in the car/truck/tractor/side-by-side/purse now before you forget. Or, better yet, put them on your wrists as the ultimate reminder, not to mention fashion statement. We'd just hate for you to end up with a cold hand or, even worse, a beer warming a little more quickly than it should (though, there is another solution to this problem you might already know if you're from these parts 😉).

Oh, that's the wisteria and purple locust! Aren't they awesome?! Do you want a cutting of the wisteria?? ✂

I'm always so impressed by the wisteria vine - definitely seems like a plant that shouldn't be able to grow here but it sure does! So much so that it may actually be eating our house.... 😬

We planted the purple locust tree to commemorate Mady's high school graduation a few years ago and it seems pretty happy! I had never seen one before so I thought it a perfect tribute to our unique (and tough) daughter.

We have a big grove of black locust on our property next door (where the cattle are this weekend) and we use them as fence posts - one of the toughest woods we've got in WI. And, the bees love the flowers! (you will too)

Yesterday I learned about honey locust and that the pods can actually be used as fodder for cattle - plus dappled shade is perfect for the grass and especially the cows, so guess who has a winter tree planning project!!! 🙋‍♀️ So excited.

But the flowers don't last forever, so you gotta hurry if you want to enjoy them!

FRIDAY UPDATE: because of another round of potential storms we are pushing music back to 6-9p. The musician needed to be updated as well so Derek Westholm will be rocking the stage for us tonight! 🎸

On Fridays the kitchen is open 4-9p. You are welcome to hang out at the fire after.....I bet the frogs and owls will be especially fun tonight after another storm goes through.

We do have covered seating in the pavilion if it does rain.

🍺 Bring or buy a MUG so you can get double punches during the storm!

NEW BEERS on tap: Citranado from 608 Brewing Company and in the bullpen: Leafless from Modicum Brewing (which I've heard really good things about!).

🐝 Also new in the cooler is a MEAD from Crafted Artisan Meadery!

We also have a building you can go into to get out of the wind and rain which conveniently contains ice cream and lots of other fun things you may have never even noticed before...so that could be a deliciously sweet little detour for you. 👀

So frustrating - on the one hand we need rain, but on the other, we are only open for 5 hours (really just 3 main hours) and it looks like we might get hit during those key hours on Thur and Fri BUT! A few good things:

1. Harry Potter trivia doesn't start until 7p and it looks like the rain might be past by then, especially any of the severe stuff.

2. we are fundraising for River Valley Raptors Inc. tonight and they are still planning on bringing live owls!

3. Beer punch cards get DOUBLE PUNCHES if it's raining when you order, so throw those mugs in the car now! 🌦

4. Always check the radar! It might be raining where you are but all rainbows and burgers at the farm! 🌈

Whew! We picked the PERFECT night for a team outing! Eau Claire Express ended up winning the game with a grand slam walk-off! ⚾ Weather was perfect, Trax the mascot wanted to hang out with us, which we allowed even after Trax knocked down our beer can pyramid, Sebastian (not pictured...I think he was off signing autographs or something) was called out on the field to guess the tickets sold and it was a nail bitter because he didn't guess right until his 3rd and final try and he never guessed what we told him to guess (phew) but he did it AND this was his first ever baseball game!

Anyway, fun times and we almost forgot to take a pic at all and not everyone could join us so only about a third of the staff are pictured in what most photographers would probably consider perfect lighting. :)

One staffer who goes to every Monday game said our outing "was the best time I've ever had at an Express game." and another texted me "...thanks again for an incredible night....it was a bucketload of fun." I only mention this because we're always looking for more great people to add to our eclectic little bunch, see the Jobs page of the website if you might be interested.

And for all of you who show up and eat burgers and drink some beers with us - thanks for the support! It allows us to do fun things like this and the more fun we have together, the better your experience at our farm is ultimately going to be. ❤
