We're not the only ones enjoying this cooler weather! 🍂🐄

After a long, hot summer, these cooler fall mornings and evenings are a welcome change for the cows, too.

Did you know dairy cows actually prefer cooler temperatures? Because they naturally produce a lot of body heat, especially when making milk, they can start feeling the effects of heat long before we do.

Cooler weather means less heat stress, more comfortable cows, and a little relief after those hot summer days.
It's one of the many things that changes with the seasons here on the farm, and we're happy to see fall arrive!

A lot of it comes down to something called butterfat!

Butterfat is the natural fat found in milk, and it plays a big role in the flavor and texture of dairy products.

It's what helps give whole milk its rich taste and ice cream that smooth, creamy texture we all love. 🍦

It's pretty amazing how much of a difference one natural part of milk can make!

Some days, the best reminder to slow down is right outside our door. 🌅
A sunrise stretching across the farm. A sunset that makes you stop what you're doing for just a minute. Those quiet moments have a way of putting things back into perspective.

Life doesn't always go according to plan, and some seasons are harder than others. But even on the difficult days, there's still so much to be thankful for.
We're grateful for this farm, our family, and the opportunity to keep working toward the things we believe in.

Sometimes you just have to stop, look around, and remember how blessed you really are. ❤️

Sweet June Bug. 🤎🐮

When June was born, she was just a reddish-brown little calf. But as she grew, her stripes started coming in…and now she’s our very own Tigger-striped cow!

And that toupee hair? She’s had that since day one. 😂 It just adds even more character to a girl who already has plenty.

Genetics are pretty amazing. Just look at June’s mama in this picture and then look at June! You’d never guess that little reddish-brown, Tigger-striped girl came from that black-and-white mama. It’s always fun to see how differently colors and markings can come through from one generation to the next.

The girls and I have always thought June was pretty. The boys? Well…they’ve never quite shared our opinion and have tried more than once to convince us she needed to be sold.

You can see who won that argument. 😉😂

A few days ago, June Bug had her very first baby—a sweet little heifer! And just like that, I think June earned herself a little more respect around here.

Good job, June Bug. You did a great job, pretty girl. 🤎

🐂 Meet Benny! 🐂

We’re excited to introduce the newest addition to the Fellwock Dairy herd! Meet Benny, our beautiful Wagyu bull. ❤️

Benny has a very important job here on the farm—he’s going to be spending some time with our Jersey girls! 😉

Why Wagyu and Jersey? Because we think this combination could make some pretty amazing beef! 🥩

Wagyu is known for its exceptional marbling, which is the fine, evenly distributed fat throughout the muscle. That marbling is what helps give Wagyu beef its famous tenderness, rich flavor and juicy texture. Jersey cattle can also produce wonderfully flavorful beef, and when you combine the two, you can get a beautiful balance of flavor, tenderness and marbling.

And there’s a bigger picture behind adding Benny to the herd…

One of our goals for Fellwock Creamery is to eventually have our own Fellwock Dairy beef available for purchase in our store. From the milk in our creamery to the products we make and the animals we raise, we want everything we do here on our farm to have a purpose. ❤️

We love trying new things, we love our animals, and we’re excited to see where this new chapter takes us!

So welcome to the herd, Benny! We have a feeling you’re going to be a pretty important guy around here. 🐂❤️
