AJ Cattle Company LLC/ McLaughlin Family Farms

AJ Cattle Company LLC/ McLaughlin Family Farms Local veteran owned 100% grass fed/finished beef. We are AJ Cattle co. Formally McLaughlin Family Farms, a small boutique breeder of organic Red Devon Beef.

We began marketing our Red D beef in the fall of 2011. When you buy from us, you have the comfort and certainty of knowing where your beef is from, and that it has always been 100% grass fed. You have complete traceability. The New Zealand Red Devon cow is a Heritage breed uniquely suited to weight up beautifully on our organically managed pastures, fresh clean well water and sunshine. They are gr

ass fed only, no grain, hormones or antibiotics. The resulting beef is juicy, tender and flavorful. Grass fed beef contains a much higher percentage of Omega 3 fatty acids compared to corn fed beef. After weeks of dry aging, our vacuum packaged beef is ready for delivery to you. The aging process concentrates and saturates the natural flavor of the beef and it breaks down connective tissues, making the beef much more tender. Take your taste buds on a trip down memory lane with a steak that tastes like the best beef that you ever had…now you can enjoy beef often and guilt free.

Nothing like finding a good spot in some hay in the barn to take a nap. Wish I could join him 😆

Well she finally did it, all on her own! Such a good momma. For the first time since we bought the farm our red Devan with a white face has calved a black angus calf. They have always been exact same coloring and white markings as there mommas, another crazy fact all the white faces have always been girls except for last year. We had our first steer white face. This year we’re back on the little girl train and she’s doing great so far.

Well I know we haven’t posted in a very long time. On the farm we have had to downsize a bit and we are just fixing a few things on the farm to make it that much better for the ladies to live and make us those beautiful babies. We are still here just not as productive at the moment as we were before. But don’t fret we will regrow the herd in no time. In fact I had the opportunity to sleep in the barn with this beautiful Betty who is (hopefully 🤞) today or tomorrow going to be giving us our first 2024 calf. She needed a little help with her first calf last spring but is a great mama so I’m not worried! Will post with future updates.

Side note- We do have lamb available. We have a list going for those interested in future 1/4s. Please just message if you would like to be on it.

I know we haven’t posted in awhile! This winter has been a crazy one for us. Have a few new additions to the farm. Multiple new lambs, new cattle dog (Stetson), and new momma didnt calf well so we have been bottle feeding her little baby. Her name is Sunshine and is a sweetie. We had a total of 17 calves. Which is amazing compared to the 2 the year prior. We also have chicks hatching ! We are so excited for the snow to melt and outside farm chores to begin. Excited to get dirt on our boots!

Scan on the left was from 6 months ago the one on the right was from 6 days after the hay bail squished me in the seat of the tractor. Have to wear a collar for another 6 weeks and see if it heals, But I definitely did a number on my neck. no surgery as of now.
