This morning, at 3:30am, Windinoll grew by 4 feet...puppy feet, that is. First-time mom Windinoll Just Sensational Mame delivered a healthy boy sired by Windinoll Keep on Truckin. The pup will be named Windinoll Nobody but Me and will be called "Patrick." (Fans of the musical, "Mame" will know Patrick was the name of Mame's nephew whom she raised and mentored as her own.) Mom and son are doing well. Pictures will, of course, follow at an appropriate time.

Our workers are so awesome!...They reported at 5:30 am, without fanfare or complaint, to feed, water, exercise, medicate and/or otherwise dote upon and provide comfort for the animals in our care on this New Year's holiday. In honor of their dedication and tireless, unsung efforts (7-days-a-week - 5:30am to midnight - 5 holidays per year), they have been absolved of pick-up/delivery/check-in/check-out responsibilities for the remainder of the day and have been "sent home" to spend what remains of the holiday with family. We will reopen to the public tomorrow. Thanks for understanding! (Okay Mom, what shall we do for the rest of the day...until it's time for evening feed/meds/exercise?)

Wishing everyone a Christmas to remember and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year! (Pictured: Windinoll 1969.)

Over the past ten years, we were delighted to learn that multiple rare, threatened or endangered wildflower species have decided to call Windinoll home. These discoveries gave rise to the hiring of a professional botanist, the preparation of a formal 2016 Botanical Survey, and - today - the receipt of the published volume! We are very pleased with the results (the report itself AND the book)..."One Hundred Thirty-two (132) native species...Twenty-nine (29) native species observed at Windinoll have high coefficients of conservatism [ ≥7 on a 10-pt. scale], and can be considered important components of the high-quality habitat and natural community present on the floodplain and forested slopes above Kelly Run. Seventy-three (73) native species have C-values between four and six." Sharing just a few sample pages of the volume received today...

At 6 days old, we have a picture...and a name! Because Tabby's latest calf was born the day before Memorial Day, he has been named "Buddy"...(as in Buddy Poppy). Buddy is energetic and tries to keep up with older cousins Ferdinand and Sweet William. Welcome to the family!
