When we asked Jeff what he’s currently reaching for, his answer came out without hesitation - Black Boss Porter.

If you’re a fan of a smooth, full bodied beer, (at 9% ABV?!) this one’s hard to beat. With tasting notes like roasted malt, dark chocolate, and coffee, it’s an excellent pairing for grilled meats or simply enjoyed on its own.

Last time, we covered the biggest distinction between tequila and mezcal - the agave they can be made from. Now let’s talk about what happens after the agave is harvested:
In mezcal, the agave hearts (or piñas) are traditionally roasted in underground earthen pits lined with volcanic rock and wood, leading to its signature smoky character. Tequila, by contrast, is typically cooked in above-ground brick ovens or steam-powered autoclaves, creating a clean, bright expression of the agave.
While smoke is often the first flavor people associate with mezcal, it’s really the production method and not the agave itself.
