🍺White Stout? Barrel Aged? Bourbon AND Rye? Yep! We brewed a white stout with lactose and are aging it in both a rye barrel and a bourbon barrel from our friends over at Detroit City Distillery!
🍺This beer combines all the richness and body of a stout without the heavy roastiness of a traditional stout, thanks to the lack of heavily roasted grains like roasted barley or black malt. The result is a golden-to-amber beer with a rich mouthfeel and tasting notes of blueberry, rye, and bourbon.
🔸It's silky smooth, thanks to the addition of lactose—a sugar that yeast can't ferment—giving this beer plenty of body without drying it out. And this one comes in at a whopping 10% ABV! 🤯
👴🏻We're planning to let it age for a few months before splitting it up for some experimentation. We're looking at adding coffee to some, cacao nibs to others, and possibly even a little marshmallow when it's finally time to bottle.
🙌🏻There's a lot of risk involved with this one… but that's kind of our thing!
