There are a handful of restaurants that sell bubble tea in the Greater Pittsburgh area, but they all have set menus that limit the number of choices a customer can have. In contrast, all the drinks offered at InsaniTea are individually made to order and, therefore, fully customizable. Customers can choose from any of our 34 different flavors to enhance the taste of their green tea, black tea, or s

moothies. The unique bubble tea experience wouldn’t be completed without one (or more!) of our 21 special toppings, including the traditional tapioca, popping boba, and chewy jelly bits. With an ever-growing palette of choices, the total number of possible combinations exceeds ten thousand. The options are only limited by the customer’s imagination! We at InsaniTea believe that an educated customer is the best customer. First, to protect our young children from any potential choking hazards, we post a consumer advisory reminding parents to exercise their own discretion. Secondly, for people who are on a diet or monitor their sugar intake, we can reduce the calories and sugar to accommodate special requirements of both nutrition and taste. Last but not least, we employ the latest technologies to prepare the drinks as well as sealed cups and individually packaged straws. This enables a “no-contact” drink preparation process, during which no bare hands ever touch the drink. To show our commitment to the highest standards of food safety and sanitation, we operate in an open environment so that our customers can see how their drinks are prepared from beginning to end.

Because some patrons may have missed out on our inventory sale this week, we have decided to hold one last sale day from 4 to 6 pm on Saturday, 8/28, during which you can buy bulk materials to make InsaniTea drinks at home or to serve at a party. As a final thank-you, we will also include a free gift for each purchase. This gift includes a set of flavored powder/juice/jelly toppings, enough to make 5 to 10 drinks. While supplies last, this is your last opportunity to get genuine InsaniTea ingredients, typically unavailable to the public.

After announcing the sale of InsaniTea back in March, we received nearly fifty inquiries and scheduled quite a few interviews. While many qualified candidates applied, we were unable to find someone to take the reins. As a result, InsaniTea will permanently close on August 22. We wish we could have brought you better news, but this decision ensures that InsaniTea goes out exactly as it came. As we wind down our operations, below are a few notes that we would like to share with you.

1) We stopped restocking our inventory in advance of the closure, so some of your favorite flavors or toppings may run out prematurely. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

2) We understand that many patrons would like to enjoy as much InsaniTea as possible before we close. However, large orders inevitably lengthen other patrons’ wait time. As a result, during our farewell weekend, August 20 to 22, we will implement a two drink limit per customer. This way we can say goodbye and serve the last of InsaniTea to more patrons. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

3) Effective immediately, anyone interested in purchasing our equipment may send a request to [email protected] or contact us in person at our shop. We will provide you with a list of available equipment and prices. Equipment sales will occur on a first-come, first-serve basis.

4) After our last day of operations on August 22, we will have inventory sales on August 23, 24, and 25, from 4 to 7 pm each day. Any leftover powder, jam, tea, juice, and toppings will be sold by pound or in bags or bottles. This sale is also on a first-come, first-serve basis and may end early if supplies run out.

We are so overwhelmed by the response to our last post. Reading so many kind words from you all almost makes us want to continue for another year. (Almost!) In all seriousness, seeing your smiling faces after serving you your InsaniTea has been the most rewarding part of the last 8 years. It's made this decision all the more difficult.

We know many of you by your names and your usual drink orders. Some of you we met while you were still in school, and now you've graduated into the real world. Others we've known before you got engaged, and now you have kids. Many of you appear in the pictures on our side walls. Walking by those fading pictures at the end of each day reminds us why our long hours are worthwhile. We cannot stay young forever to always serve you, but we certainly will cherish those wonderful memories.

We sincerely apologize for not being able to reply to each comment individually, but just know that we are grateful for each and every one. It has been our pleasure to be a small part of your lives these last 8 years. You have all been a big part of ours.

This February marks InsaniTea's 8th anniversary. Reaching this milestone also leads us to the next chapter of our journey. To this end, we are officially retiring at the end of our current lease in August.

This decision is not triggered by the on-going pandemic. In fact, we delayed retiring for a year because of it. After the three-month statewide closures last March, we postponed our retirement plans and reopened in June to test the waters. Thanks to your continued loyalty, we not only survived but have gained business since reopening. While we are sad to reach the end of InsaniTea, we are very pleased to see this journey end on an upswing.

In preparation for our exit, we want to remind you that any remaining value on InsaniTea gift cards and VIP stamp cards will expire on our last business day, tentatively set for Sunday, August 22nd, 2021. We strongly urge all cardholders to redeem their cards before this date. While we will no longer be selling gift cards effective immediately, you can still collect stamps on your VIP cards and redeem existing gift card value until we close.

As far as the future of InsaniTea, we will try to identify a qualified buyer in the next few months through a rigorous screening process. Whoever has what it takes to bring InsaniTea to the next level is encouraged to contact us at [email protected]. If no candidate meets our expectations, we will simply close InsaniTea for good.

Lastly, we would like to express our sincere gratitude for your patronage over the years. Many of you have become like extended family to us, and we appreciate your continued support in our final months. You, our patrons, are what made the last 8 years so enjoyable and fulfilling.
