High Spirits Farm at historic Spring Plains Mill

High Spirits Farm at historic Spring Plains Mill And, on a lovely old farm. We've only just begun this year (2014). We've plans to host Farmer's Markets & Flea Markets coming up...we'll keep you posted.

Currently, we have horses whose previous owners were unable to care for, respectfully, as well as ones who've been abandoned or neglected and elderly horses that need to be retired properly so that they may live their lives out in peace, comfort & joy with lots & lots of love. Also, Psychic/Medium, Kelly Moxley does reading upon request and is also the owner. The lovely old farm dates back to the

mid to late 1600s before the house that currently stands here was built (in 1782) as it was a part of a larger estate then called "Monocacy Manor". This was before The Revolutionary War AND before we were The United States. In those days, Woodsboro was an English Settlement called "Woodsberry". And, before that even, it was Indian territory...'no man's land'...where they met for ceremony, battle or burial. Their settlements were outside and around the areas surrounding Woodsboro leading up to The Appalachian Mountains. This property operated as Mill until the 20th century when it went to dairy farming as was the growing trend of the times in this agricultural area. This old homestead has seen & lived along side the Indians, has seen The Revolutionary War, the birth of our country, the Civil War (when the confederate troops stayed here 3 days before & on their way to The Battle Of Gettysburg)& everything else & in between all the way up until today. The gentle spirits here will often tell the stories if you listen closely. It is truly a magical place meant to be shared with many. We hope to see you!

It was very hot - cattle suffer much.Cattle: $5.75 (per 100 wt) from him. 05/13/2014: K Moxley writes: Hot & muggy day...even seemed to irritate the horses. Gene fed up & got them started for the day. Mr Brillhart & his dog, Ruby (named for M Ruby..his great great great grandfather & author of the diary!)also honored us with her presence. We had a lovely time walking (me & Ruby did some wading thru the creed & Ruby even swam!)

Moxley writes, Well,no fires here today..too much water! ;) Im just getting back in for the day at 11pm. Been getting things together & back in order around here. Young Miss Kathy(Joanne & Bernie's daughter) was over helping with the horses today. When I came back, I was pleasantly surprised as she started weeding the outdoor arena. Im hoping to spend more time with her over the weekend as I believe she will do so well with the horses & already knows what to do, for the most part. Young Miss Gabby(neighbor, John & Debbie's daughter) was over earlier in the week & we had a lot of fun jumping the horses...Tuffy kept knocking them over so, we ran out & caught Bella, She did well for not being worked with for so long. Miss Gabby texted me later to tell me I would see a surprise in the barn when I got home a few days ago. My dear young friend had swept the barn! I hope these kids will enjoy the horses & every inch of the place & know that they are such a welcomed addition to the farm. Later, I met some lovely ladies who came over this evening for readings. My Sweet Spirits are quite & calm for now. And, even at this hour, the front porch is calling............

God took my left hand
and drew me by his side.
Sweet spirits touched my face
and held me as I cried.
And, when the others left,
I knew Id be alright.
I have myself to own
to see thee through the night.

And, when the others left,
I knew Id be alright.
And, when the others left,
I then regained my sight.

(M. Ruby's diary needs to be returned by my father still &unable to ask what was recorded on this day back then so, I will go get it tomorrow).K Moxley writes: 05/01/2014: Sun shone brightly on us today. Horses r ok & happily grazing outside. Water has receded. Pararormal team is coming to help Saturday & is so good of them. We had planned on investigating this weekend & when I told them what happened & that maybe they'd want to reschedule, they didnt blink an eye & instead said, "We're coming to help. What do you need done?" WOW! Thanks be to God & BLESSED BE(this old witchy witch, says! HE loves the good Witch, afterall! :) )Rich & Laura also are coming on Sun..again out of sheer love, family & friendship. So many others wished us well & would be here, if they could. Heck, I feel like the richest girl in the world!

STATE OF EMERGENCY:K. Moxley writes: 04/30/2014: Israel's creek has spilled over covering the road, fields, cellar & heading to the house. Field is one massive lake & I am stranded here by myself. Coppermine Rd is shut down & impassable. The horses are NOT happy & im fixing spot in barn loft as that is the highest place I can get to on the farm as water hasnt crested yet & is raining til morning. I must admit, im a bit nerve wracked BUT, im singing & talking to the horses(trying to keep them calm). They're not buying it so, I leveled with them & told them Im right here & would never let anything happen to them. Still, im singing..bailing water! This is truly a situation I have never encountered & ill sure be glad when the rain stops! But, ill keep working to save this place if it kills me. Poor horses, bless their big hearts. I just want them to feel better. Poor Tuffy is shaking. I stood with him in his stall for the longest time.

They sure give me all theirs. I also finished cleaning out the carriage house.
